“Abstain from all appearance of evil” 1 Thessalonians 5:22. Paul admonishes us to abstain (stay away) from even the very appearance of evil. He’s speaking about the outside, visible part of us as what others might perceive as evil. Born again believers in Christ have an awesome responsibility to Jesus, we’ve put on Christ therefore we are to hold ourselves above what even the appearance of evil. By the way Christians should know what constitutes the appearance of evil and what doesn’t.
I read a news article recently about a woman scorned. The woman’s husband had been caught in an extra marital affair and she decided to embarrass him by going public with the news and details of his lapse into infidelity. In today’s culture where we see and hear about this type of activity continually, just how embarrassed would this guy be if he had to stand out in public with a sign indicating his infidelity? Later I read that the article was a hoax, still my conclusion doesn’t change. Are people actually embarrassed when their infidelities become public domain? The sin of adultery seems to be at a point of commonality that would rival the sin of homosexuality. Under normal circumstances adulterers would be outcast until they had repented and asked for forgiveness. Today adultery seems to be so commonplace that their boldness goes unnoticed. Where’s the outrage from God’s people? Even in the Church today there’s a problem with adultery. Many just ignore God’s word.
The Church has allowed the appearance of evil to manifest itself right inside the sanctuary. Yet God’s word is true and unchanging. The seventh commandment proclaims “Thou shalt not commit adultery.” Exodus 20:14. In Leviticus we read “And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death,” Leviticus 20:10. Obviously our civilization now looks on adultery with a lackadaisical attitude. I live in a community that boasts of its many Churches, yet adultery’s ugly head is raised even here among all these saints.
A married brother in Christ asked me once if it was alright for him to be alone in his car with a single woman. I quoted the verse found in 1 Thessalonians to him and tried to explain why this was not a good idea. My explanation of why this would be seen as inappropriate went right over his head. Another man asked me if two older people in their sixties could live together without being married. Again, it’s the appearance of evil, it isn’t a Godly behavior, and it could lead others astray. That brother went on to give the reason why this older Christian couple opted for living together instead of following God’s precept of uniting in holy matrimony. “But if they get married they’re placed in a higher tax bracket and that’s why they remain unmarried”. Excuse me, but where in the Bible is there a verse that condones living together to avoid paying your taxes?
People will invent a plethora of excuses that allows them to dabble with or even wallow in the pig’s trough. Then they begin to flaunt their sin since they’ve been able to condone it in their own eyes. As for those who belong to Jesus, we must find ways to prevent even the slightest manifestation of evil in our lives. Our intensions may be perfectly innocent but remember it’s the perception of evil that’s being addressed here.
“He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him” 1 John 2:10. In Greek the word “meno” can be translated as “Abide, tarry, remain continually, and endure”. As followers of Jesus Christ we are to remain (abideth) steadfast in the light; all of those translated English words above apply. There should be no variance or movement out of the light into darkness. As Christians we are to not only avoid the darkness but even the appearance of darkness in our lives. We know God sees everything, every sin we commit whether out in the open or hidden by darkness. “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good,” Proverbs 15:3. When we are out in public others can see how we act and how we speak. Believers know it’s their responsibility to present Jesus to the lost and they see Him through our lives. How can we be His light to the lost if we are stepping back and forth in and out of darkness?
The second part of John’s admonition is for the brethren to have no occasion to stumble a fellow brother in Christ. In other words there should be nothing in our walk with Christ that would lead another into sin. Again, we abstain from every appearance of evil (sin). Just how do we go about that seemingly elusive task? There’s an old adage I’m sure you’ve all heard before, “What Would Jesus Do”? This comes from a book entitled “In His Steps” and was written by Charles Sheldon back in the 1800s. If you haven’t read it I highly recommend you purchase a copy or go to www.kancoll.org/books/sheldon/ and read it online for yourself. It’s a story of a pastor who challenges his congregation to repeat the words “What Would Jesus Do” each time they were about to make an important, possibly life changing, decision.
I know what you’re going to say “WWJD is an old and tried idea that had its run and now is thoroughly out dated” it may seem that way to some because we’ve stopped applying it to our lives. Nothing about keeping Jesus on our minds can ever be considered outdated. WWJD was marketed and sold to the public as a merchandizing scheme. It seems this is always the case when something good is identified as a money maker. My challenge to you this day, is to grab that old tried idea back up off the shelf and restore it to its position of prominence. And the next time you are about to make that very important decision which just might have the appearance of evil ask yourself the question “What Would Jesus Do”. But take it a step further next time and ask yourself this, “How will what I’m about to do glorify God?” If it doesn’t glorify God, abstain. It’s that simple.
Many Christians today have become lax in their attitudes toward sin. Because of the influence of the world and the temptations put before us by those who are lost, many followers of Christ stumble and some make a habit of stumbling. I’m sure there are many who see nothing wrong with being alone with someone of the opposite sex. That’s because our morals have been tampered with. Just look at all the movies that have been produced to lure us into evil. Sin (evil) is sin and there is no hiding from it when it appears in our life, we can’t fool God. Having a grasp of what may constitute the appearance of evil before we step into that dark arena might just keep us from stumbling a brother, not to mention ourselves. Wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, comes with maturity, Christian maturity. Christians who are mature in their walk with Jesus will do anything to avoid the appearance of evil; no one wants to knowingly lead another astray.
I mentioned two different accounts of believers participating in what would be an appearance of evil; there are many more. As believers who have been reborn, born of God, and since He now owns us we should do everything possible to keep from associating with even the tiniest fragment of evil. Why be conformed to the world. Since we’re only passing though this world to get to our permanent home we should have that home on our minds. It should be our privilege and honor to lead others into the light of Christ while abstaining from all appearances of evil in our own life.
Conforming to the world is a pit many Christians have fallen into. Some of whom have knowingly, and willingly conformed their bodies into the exact image and lifestyle which they were brought out of. Instead of separating themselves from the world they’ve joined the ranks of the walking dead. Certainly this is the appearance of evil.
When believers get caught up with the cares of the world they lose their focus and begin to put on the world. There are those who mark up or punch holes in their bodies then say it’s done so they can witness to others who are into that type of mutilation. They want to be on a level playing field so to speak with those they are witnessing to. Some believers seem to be under the false assumption that if they take on a similar look as those who are lost their witnessing will be more productive. This is a huge error. We’re not taught in the scriptures to conform to the world in order to be a better witness “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2.
To abstain from ALL appearance of evil means just that. If believers become intertwined, so to speak, with the walking dead, the lost can have a devastating effect on the saved. They may very well bring you down to a level that will be difficult, if not impossible, to separate from, “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14. If we follow Paul’s admonition, then we shall find it much easier to abstain from any appearance of evil.
When we look around at the world today we can plainly see evil permeating every nook and cranny of society. There will always be folks who try to tell us that what we once perceived as good is no longer good and they’ll turn normal around and replace it with abominations. They’ll tell us that bad and evil are now good. Believers must be constantly on guard and thoroughly prepared for what’s coming. This world is turning upside down. We must abstain from joining in with the crowd.
I made, in the beginning paragraph, a very important statement. Christians should know what constitutes the appearance of evil. Many today who call themselves Christians haven’t a clue as to the full scope of evil that currently permeates our society. The truth is, evil abounds in both its scope and its depth. Believers have neglected their Bibles long enough. We read and study God’s word thus we learn His truth and what God considers evil and what He accepts as good. Then we need to take it one step further and apply His precepts to our lives.
Gird yourselves with righteousness, allow no evil into your circle of influence, be the light Christ has ordained you to be. Be wise, be prudent, be an example of Christ on earth. Avoid at all cost the appearance of evil. Remember the temptation to embrace evil comes from the lust of the flesh which is Satan’s domain. “...every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” James 1:13-15.

2012 … The End Of The World?
Posted in: Ikvot ha'Mashiach
Last Week’s Feature Article by Jack Kelley
“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.” (Luke 21:25)
The year 2012 is lining up as a uniquely pivotal year in many respects. Aside from the fact that some futurists are predicting world wide food and job riots by then, and the two most powerful thrones on Earth (US and UN) will be up for election, there may be a never before seen confluence of signs in the heavens due to arrive then. In case you’ve been visiting another planet for the past couple of years, here they are.
Mayan Calendar Ends. Dec.21, 2012
By way of introduction, somehow the Mayans knew that the Sun travels in an orbit through the galaxy just like the planets of our solar system travel in an orbit around the Sun. They calculated that it requires 25,625 of our years for the Sun to complete one circle, called a galactic day. The Mayans divided this day into 5 cycles of 5125 years each. According to their calendar the current cycle, which is the 5th, will end on the day we know as Dec. 21, 2012, the winter solstice.
The Mayan Calendar does not necessarily predict the world will end on that day, as some think, but they did believe that the Sun, having reached the center of the galaxy, would receive and emit a powerful surge of light from this alignment and would reverse its polarity. This would cause a great cosmic event on Earth and result in the end of life as we know it. Below are some modern confirmations that will demonstrate just how accurate the Mayans were. They lend more credibility to the view that the influence of the Nephilim with their supernatural knowledge might have been much more widespread than previously thought. Hints of their meddling can be seen world wide.
According to the Mayans, the effect of all this will depend on our reaction to it. If, as a civilization, we try to cling to our current ways we’ll suffer chaos and destruction. But if we change to become united in one positive consciousness and stop fighting each other and poisoning our environment we’ll enter our Golden Age. Sounds straight out of the New Age, doesn’t it?
Magnetic Polar Reversal, Earth And Sun Combined. 2012
I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as late figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. (Rev. 6:12-14)
Over the past few years the magnetic North pole has been drifting across Canada and is headed for Siberia. Also, the Earth’s magnetic field has weakened noticeably compared to its strength when scientists began measuring it in 1845. Based on these findings, some scientists are now convinced that a reversal of the Earth’s magnetic poles is underway. They’re predicting that in 2012 the magnetic field will be at its weakest and a polar reversal could suddenly and dramatically take place with the North pole having the polarity of the South pole and vice versa.
In 2012 the Sun will also experience a polar reversal producing radiation emissions at their strongest levels in 50 years. Although the Sun’s magnetic poles reverse every eleven years, in the memory of man the Earth has never experienced such an event. While no one can predict the outcome of this double shift, it could produce massive earthquakes and volcanic eruptions of a magnitude that could actually cause a measurable continental shift.
A study by the National Academy of Sciences released in early 2009 indicated that a “solar storm” like this could also cause catastrophic damage to the power grid and other communications as well, knocking out satellites, phones, and computers. They confirmed that the 2012 event would be more severe than others we’ve experienced in the past.
If this reversal caused the magnetic field around Earth to collapse, the effect would be even more severe. According to some projections, the electromagnetic energy released from the sun during a polar reversal could cause Earth’s upper atmosphere to “erupt in flames” if our magnetic field isn’t there to deflect it. Was John referring to this in saying the sky vanished like a scroll being rolled up? No one knows. We can only imagine what a sudden reversal of magnetic poles would do to life on Earth. Predictions range all the way from a temporary increase in the frequency and severity of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes to a worldwide disaster of “Biblical proportions.”
Galactic Alignment. Sun At The Center Of The Milky Way. Dec. 21, 2012
Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.(Rev. 8:5)
The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs. (Psalm 114:4)
In December 2012 the Sun will be in the center of the Milky Way Galaxy, as the Mayans predicted, with all the planets lined up in their orbits behind it, like little chicks behind their mother. Some scientists believe this will amplify the Sun’s gravitational pull on Earth causing increased instability in its inner core. They say the increased gravitational pull combined with increased radiation from the twin polar reversals will heat the Earth’s molten core and cause it to spin faster. This could result in anything from more frequent and more powerful earthquakes to volcanic eruptions, great tsunamis and even displacement of the Earth’s crust.
Planet X Returns To The Solar System. 2012
The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water- the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter. (Rev. 8:8-11)
Planet X has been the subject of much debate among scientists, both as to its actual existence and its name. Some refer to Planet X as Nibiru, a large planet listed in 5000 year old Sumerian tablets, but missing from the Solar system today. Others say it’s Rahab, the ancient seat of Satan, hinted at in Job 9:13 & 26:12, Psalm 87:4 & 89:10, and in Isaiah 30:7 & 51:9. Those who advocate for its existence say it’s been privately tracked by NASA since the 1980’s and both the New York Times and the Washington Post have speculated about its appearance in the sky. Documented naked eye sightings from the Southern Hemisphere are also claimed.
The name Rahab appears in the Old Testament a total of 11 times. Five times it refers to the Rahab of Jericho who hid the 2 spies, was the mother of Boaz, and appears in the Lord’s genealogy. The other six times, listed above, it does not. Some believe these other references are to a planet that was once part of our Solar system and that Satan and his followers inhabited along with Earth and Mars. These people disagree as to whether it was originally our 5th or 6th planet, but supposedly these three planets were judged at the time of Satan’s rebellion in the gap between Genesis 1 :1 & 1:2 . They also disagree as to whether it was completely destroyed leaving only the asteroid belt as a memorial, or was sent spinning out into the far reaches of the universe, or some combination of the two. Proponents of the partial destruction theory say that the remnant of the planet Rahab can now be seen again, and that God will use it to effect some of the judgments of Revelation.
To many, this idea of Satan’s Kingdom planet re-entering our solar system is wild conjecture. After all, they say, it was developed out of a study combining the apocryphal Book of Enoch with the application of ELS (Equi-distant Letter Sequencing), commonly known as the Bible Codes. But if we’re as close to the end as I think we are, it won’t be long until we know whether the Rahab theories are truth or fiction. For what it’s worth, some believe Nostradamus predicted a comet/planet coming in 2012.
In any case, whether you call it X, or Nibiru, or Rahab, there are some serious people who believe it’s headed our way and will at least come dangerously close to Earth in 2012, showering us with the asteroids it has captured and causing great damage on Earth.
What’s The Point?
The short answer to the title question is, “No. 2012 will not bring the end of the world.” But without attempting to tie these predicted events to specific prophecies, I think it’s interesting to see how similar the Biblical descriptions of end times judgments are to the scientific view of possible coming events. (It appears that talking about signs of the End of the Age is not just for Christians any more.) Due to the nearness of 2012, I only used verses from Revelation that describe judgments during the first half of Daniel’s 70th Week , before the Great Tribulation even begins. After that it gets much worse very quickly.
See, the day of the LORD is coming -a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger- to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it. The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light. I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless. I will make man scarcer than pure gold, more rare than the gold of Ophir. Therefore I will make the heavens tremble; and the earth will shake from its place at the wrath of the LORD Almighty, in the day of his burning anger. (Isaiah 13:9-13)
So what will the 2012 disasters accomplish? I believe that God will use these and other End Times judgments to begin putting the Earth back into the condition it was when He gave it to Adam. Remember, Jesus called the Millennium the time of restoration of all things (Matt. 19:28) and Paul said the whole creation has been groaning in anticipation of being liberated from the bondage it was subjected to. (Romans 8:20-21). And at the beginning of the Millennium God will proclaim, “I am making everything new.” (Rev. 21:5)
Since the creation, mountains have been pushed up and valleys made lower to contain the enormous amounts of water generated in the Great Flood. The protective water vapor canopy that permitted long life spans in pre-flood times collapsed at the time of the Flood. Earth’s land mass has been pushed apart to form the current continents and islands, the Earth’s orbit has been extended by 5 ¼ days, and its axis tilted by 23.44 degrees. All this and more will have to be fixed in order for Earth to once again be the paradise it was created to be.
You and I will view all of this from the mezzanine during our time of repose with the Lord. On Earth it will be the beginning of the most terrible time known to man.
Woe to you who long for the day of the LORD! Why do you long for the day of the LORD ? That day will be darkness, not light. It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear, as though he entered his house and rested his hand on the wall only to have a snake bite him. Will not the day of the LORD be darkness, not light-pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness? (Amos 5:18-20) You can almost hear the Footsteps of the Messiah (08-29-09)
After observing Obama on the campaign trail and during his first six months in office, we have concluded that our President lives and governs according to his own set of “Ten Commandments.” They’re certainly NOT the Ten Commandments you learned in Sunday School. In fact, many are the direct opposite! To prove that our conclusions are correct, you will find a link to source documentation for each commandment on the Patriot Update web site. (Check out our t-shirt version below!)
I. Thou shalt have no God in America, except for me. For we are no longer a Christian nation and, after all, I am the chosen One. (And like God, I do not have a birth certificate.) SOURCE
II. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, unless it is my face carved on Mt. Rushmore. SOURCE
III. Thou shalt not utter my middle name in vain (or in public). Only I can say Barack Hussein Obama. SOURCE
IV. Remember tax day, April 15th, to keep it holy. SOURCE
V. Honour thy father and thy mother until they are too old and sick to care for. They will cost our public-funded health-care system too much money. SOURCE
VI. Thou shalt not kill, unless you have an unwanted, unborn baby. For it would be an abomination to punish your daughter with a baby. SOURCE
VII. Thou shalt not commit adultery if you are conservative or a Republican. Liberals and Democrats are hereby forgiven for all of their infidelity and immorality, but the careers of conservatives will be forever destroyed. SOURCE
VIII. Thou shalt not steal, until you've been elected to public office. Only then is it acceptable to take money from hard-working, successful citizens and give it to those who do not work, illegal immigrants, or those who do not have the motivation to better their own lives. SOURCE
IX. Thou shalt not discriminate against thy neighbor unless they are conservative, Caucasian, or Christian. SOURCE
X. Thou shalt not covet because it is simply unnecessary. I will place such a heavy tax burden on those that have achieved the American Dream that, by the end of my term as President, nobody will have any wealth or material goods left for you to covet. SOURCE
“For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it. But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it,” Proverbs 2:21, 22.
Remember when you were growing up and you misbehaved? One or both of your parents would tell you to behave yourself. As you grew bodily and intellectually, your behavior actually took on characteristics belonging to your parents. We learn from our parents and we pass along our learning to our children. “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding,” Proverbs 4:7.
If children grow up in a home that is full of iniquity they will pick up such behavioral traits themselves. Parents have so much influence on their children’s behavior that if the parents were to actually live the Christian lifestyle, their children would most appropriately emulate that lifestyle; the opposite is also true. If our lifestyle is focused on debauchery (excessive indulgence in sensual pleasures; intemperance), our children’s behavior will ultimately reflect the same.
A Christian child growing up in today’s society needs to have continual correction in order for them to hold fast to Christian values. Our minds, and our children’s minds are bombarded daily by the words and actions of people who live contrary to God’s will, and this can be overwhelming. Bringing up a child in a morally upstanding home environment will always necessitate some form of mind modifications because of outside evil and immoral influences. Mind modification sounds awful, but it is practiced throughout our society. TV and movies promote the greatest of these manipulating practices, followed closely by our government run public school system.
Everything goes back to a learned behavior. Beginning with a young mind, for example, erroneous influences can create barriers to truth. Children learn a form of truth from their parents, and accuracy of truth hinges on those parents’ presuppositions. Children parrot their parent’s views. For example, my daughter has a friend who hates Chevrolets. Why? Because her dad hates Chevrolets! This young girl has never owned a Chevrolet so has no experience with car ownership of any kind, but she parrots her father’s views.
I can give many examples of learned behavior such as drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, immorality in the home (such as adultery or watching TV shows which promote an immoral behavior), and of course physical and mental child abuse. All this becomes embedded in a child’s mind to a point that they see nothing wrong in such behavior and it becomes a part of their lifestyle when they become adults. Of course then it becomes a domino effect passing this behavior on to each generation.
If a child is brought up in the admonition of the Lord through a regime of daily Bible reading, and with a dad and mom who are devoted to the Lord Jesus as well as to each other, in all likelihood that child will carry that pattern into their adult life, and pass it on to their children. “Train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6. If on the other hand there are deviations from such a lifestyle, these deviations will soon be picked up by our children. Consequently over generations this systematic departure from the truth becomes expanded upon, finally resulting in a learned behavior that is at odds with the truth of God’s word. “The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools,” Proverbs 3:35.
When a society deviates from God’s word, the result is a people steeped in immorality. It’s a learned behavior that spreads like a cancer, affecting everyone in its path. Destructive lifestyles are caustic to a moral society, and when immorality is not condemned the result will be the eventual demise of that once moral society. If parents won’t stand for decency in a society, their children will not learn to be morally decent and will pass their lack of morality on to the next generation of children. Ultimately this will lead to the complete breakdown of the moral structure of any civilization. “The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble,” Proverbs 4:19.
The following poll was conducted by the Barna Research Group and gleaned from a WorldNetDaily.com article that shows definite signs of learned behavior.
“The pollsters asked adults if, in the previous week, they had viewed pornography, used profanity in public, gambled, gossiped, engaged in sexual intercourse with someone to whom they were not married, retaliated against someone, got drunk or lied. A majority of the respondents acknowledged engaging in at least one of those eight behaviors.
Here are the specific results:
28 percent admitted to using profanity in public;
20 percent admitted gambling, including the purchase of a lottery ticket;
19 percent admitted to intentional exposure to pornographic images;
12 percent admitted getting drunk;
11 percent admitted lying;
9 percent said they had sexual intercourse with someone other than their spouse;
8 percent said they had retaliated against someone.
While only 1 percent of married adults acknowledged having sex with someone other than their spouse, 21 percent of single adults said they had sex with someone in the previous week. In fact, reported the Barna Group, those under 25 were more than twice as likely to engage in these activities.
"Their choices made even the Baby Boomers – never regarded as a paragon of traditional morality – look like moral pillars in comparison," the study concluded.
Among the under-25 group:
64 percent admitted using profanity in public;
38 percent engaged in sex outside marriage;
37 percent lied;
25 percent gossiped;
26 percent used pornography;
33 percent engaged in acts of retaliation.”
What can we expect from a society that continually glorifies wicked and depraved people and shuns that which is righteous? Of course the result will be a complete collapse of the moral structure of a society. When evil prevails in a nation it will always lead to even more depravity. Every society that allows a cesspool of filth to permeate the minds of the young people will undoubtedly reap what they’ve sown. “The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked,” Proverbs 10:3.
Sitting in my doctors waiting room the other day, I overheard a few of the ladies who were also waiting to see the doctor discussing with the receptionist all the daily soap operas and movies they miss because they work all day, and how they tape them so they can view them at a later time slot. Interestingly, I know all these fine ladies are professing Christians. These particular movies and the majority of soap operas are pure trash and yet these women have no problem openly discussing and watching such trash. Learned behavior passed on from generation to generation. Harmless you say? Destructive I say.
Habitual bad behavior of children comes, in some cases, from observing those people they most respect, such as parents, grandparents, school teachers, even U.S. Presidents. The worst perpetrators of this morally wrong behavior are the hero’s of this current generation: actors, actresses, singers, and professional ball players with minds so depraved, that in any society that practices God’s precepts for morality they would be locked away. These are the folks who encourage a destructive lifestyle, a behavior that promotes every vile and gross iniquity known to man, and yet it seems the world can’t get enough. These so called heroes are championed by the media who are used by Satan to feed this trash to a hungry public who are looking everywhere for fulfillment, except to Christ. “The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity,” Proverbs 10:29.
Have you ever stopped to realize that the easing of societal taboos is something that happens quietly at first, under the radar so to speak? As folks become numb to each new broken taboo, another one is attacked and soon falls. Before anyone knows what’s happened, all of society’s taboos are gone, leaving a complete and total breakdown of morals. It's called the Law of progression. Each generation that follows becomes more immoral but unaware that they are in a depraved state because this immorality has become commonplace. All of which can be attributed to learned behavior.
The Bible is being completely shunned or even mistranslated to accommodate those with evil agendas. Yet in this frequently mistranslated and disparaged book all the immorality and evil vileness we see happening today was prophesied 2,000 years ago. “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! ” 2 Timothy 3:2-5.
It’s not easy to escape “learned behaviors”, especially those which contradict God’s word, but it is possible. There is always a way out of every evil behavioral situation. The Holy Spirit is always at work in each person’s life, as is the devil. Satan will try to thwart any and all efforts put forth by the Holy Spirit. It is a constant battle. Ultimately Satan loses the battle, but not before he convinces a huge majority of every culture and people to follow evil instead of God.
If you love Jesus and make manifest your love for Him in your life, your children will learn from your behavior. Ultimately they will become more knowledgeable of who Jesus is, what He should mean to them, and what He expects of them. Learned behavior can lead either to righteousness or evil, but it depends on each of us as parents and how our lifestyles promote Jesus Christ.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths,” Proverbs 3:5, 6. If we consistently follow this advice, so might our children. If not, well.
God bless you all,
Many are asking if she can be saved, or has God abandoned America? If so, what a pitiful conclusion, for a nation that has been a beacon of hope for the oppressed of the world. How often has America banded to fight off aggression or traveled to the ends of the earth to aid the less fortunate? How many missionaries has she provided to the world saving an untold number of lost souls?
Some say America must be punished for her sins, but are they really that much more grave than other wealthy nations? Luke 12:48 reminds us that from those given a great deal will be required much more. Have we used our God-given assets properly?
On the radio, was John McTernan, author of God's Final Warning to America and As America Has Done to Israel. Mr McTernan has tracked judgment on America when we abuse the unborn, look the other way at the radical gay agenda, and cause any kind of harm to God's covenant land of Israel. Some have "issues" with this. I am not sure why since there is a biblical illustration for each category. Ever heard of Sodom and Gomorrah?
Right now America is torn in two, and the more Obama pushes the division of Israel, the more division there will be in our country. It has far surpassed the clever little red state-blue state illustration of a few years ago. Now it is hard-core secular humanist liberalism vs. traditional values and biblical values' people butting heads. Just this rampant division in our country is judgment. We cannot all get along! The chasm of division grows more each day!
America is trillions of dollars in debt. More than 60% of the country is experiencing a drought. Two million houses are in foreclosure. Read Deuteronomy 28 to see how God dealt with a rebellious Israel. Why would He do less to a rebellious America?
Recently, Homeland Security declared millions of good people "right-wing extremists." Janet Napolitano has now pulled that position paper due to the outcry. Nonetheless, very good people were called evil with overtones of Isaiah 5:20 at play. Let's be honest and say this kind of labeling was going on long before the Obama administration came to power but now it is on fast-forward.
Dr. James Dobson stated that "America is awash in evil." He also stated in World Net Daily on May 14, 2009, "There is utter evil coming out of the U.S. Congress." Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-TX) has been reporting on the "pedophile protection act" being promoted by Congress. He states, "If we don't have another awakening, I'm not sure what's left (of America)." Dobson concurs and says that the threat to religious rights "keeps me awake at night."
Under certain circumstances, names for Jesus or symbols of Jesus must be covered up as ordered by the Obama administration. If any prayer is to be used in any service or ceremony, it must be approved and likely will be stricken out. There is almost unbelievable news that our Pentagon is burning Bibles. Do we even have a right to expect God's favor on America?
Thankfully some Christian leaders and pastors are speaking up and risking all, but for the most part, the church is asleep. A nation is only as strong as her churches are strong. A passage was given to Israel that can be applied to our day, which reads, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, then turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land" (II Chronicles 7:14). The verse is not directed at the devil's crowd! The responsibility for turning around the direction of a country falls heavily on people of faith. But our churches, and our people are slowly and surely being ripped apart from the inside and we are letting it happen with out own disobediences!
Unfortunately many churches today don't want to preach about judgment or consequences. They are spiritually anesthetized (if not dead and deceiving entirely). They have not been teaching to fear the Lord but rather, that God is all about love, that He is our "buddy" etc... because that makes people come to church and then it all becomes about the numbers and eventually, money. Not about redeeming souls, or righteousness. Many pastors and ministry leaders would never put a big part of the blame on America's demise onto the church! They're into church growth and don't make waves or people won't return next week. Praise needs to be extended to pastors and church leaders who are holding to truth, who are telling the truth, and who are warning of serious judgment occurring now and in the future.
This past spring, "America's pastor," Rick Warren, reversed himself on California's "Proposition 8." He ultimately apologized to the gay community for his endorsement of it! And we expect God's blessing when "America's pastor" does this? I realize many reading this do not consider Rick their pastor, but let's be honest, many do. America's "other pastor" is Joel Osteen who said on Larry King that he's just glad Obama "loves the Lord." Why the sugar-coating? Why not tell the inconvenient truth?
We have reached a point where we can only pray that God would have mercy in His judgment on America, and that He would send an outpouring of His Spirit to help beat back the rampant evil of our times. Perhaps, right now our only focus should be on evangelism before the Ark door shuts once again. Maybe it is too late for petitions and pleading with Congress to do things right. Maybe our focus should be eternal, not earthly. But once an individual or a nation gives up, the slide can be at rapid pace and no one wants to see that. The Bible doesn't tell Christians to be "salt and light" just up to a certain point in history and then quit!
Thus I would exhort you to press on and speak up for righteousness, for "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people" (Proverbs 14:34).
» Two Kinds of People
“There are only two kinds of people in the end. Those who say to God ‘Thy will be done,’ and those to whom God says, ‘Thy will be done” C S Lewis.
Being given the ability to choose between God and His adversary is the greatest of choices God could have bestowed upon mankind. And it all comes down to where we wish to spend eternity. Is there anything that is more important than our eternal destiny? I say no but many will say yes there are things more important than thinking about what comes after this life. The reason for this attitude among the perishing is one of unbelief. Many just won’t believe there’s life after planet earth, hence, two kinds of people.
C S Lewis had it right. More recently I, too, have written of the magnitude of a sincere and informed eternal decision. But more importantly Jesus speaks of this subject quite forcefully in His word “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:13, 14. “Hodos” is the Greek word for way and can also be translated path, road, or highway. Highways are, for the most part, broad and can accommodate a huge throng of people. Jesus says many will travel that broad highway and be destroyed. Many will seek after destruction because they just find it too difficult to accept or believe that any other path exists. Many will seek after the lusts and desires of this life, never coming to the realization that these things are all temporary.
This lost generation looks at believers and says “We don’t want to be like them, we don’t want to miss out on all the thrilling and fantastic adventures that these Christians can’t even appreciate because of their religion”. “We want what’s coming to us”, many will say, “I deserve it”, (sadly, if they stay in that frame of mind they will soon realize they got exactly what they’ve asked for). God says, “Thy will be done”.
As believers in Christ we can enjoy this life God has blessed us with. We can have relationships with folks who, for the most part, think as we do and this places us in a position of fellowship that is never understood by those who are perishing. Everyone has a need for fulfillment and as such Christians turn to Christ, we say to God “Thy will be done.”
The lost, on the other hand, have a big empty void inside them. There’s a place for God in us all but those who refuse to allow God His place in them are at a loss to understand why they cannot be filled. They struggle continually, in vain, to fill that emptiness by giving in to the lust of their hearts. Every decision is pretty much a moral decision these days, and yet the ones who are perishing can’t or won’t see it that way. It’s all about how much pleasure they can derive out of any and all situations. All the sinful pleasures that unbelievers strive to be engulfed in are only going to turn out to be a fleeting pleasure at best. Adhering to the carnal lusts of the heart will always result in pursing more and new pleasures but never actually achieving fulfillment.
What those who are perishing can’t seem to grasp is that all Christians sin. Oops, here come the emails. Those who place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ don’t suddenly become perfect people, but the lost think that’s exactly what happens. Then when they witness a believer stumble, as we all do, all they can see is a hypocrite. We’re not perfect, not by, any stretch of the imagination, but we are forgiven.
At some point, many who are perishing because of their unbelief begin to seek after a more fulfilling “spiritual” life. Satan loves to lead these unguided seekers to something that sounds like it might have come from God but actually comes from Satan himself. Many will be lead to their own demise by listening to others with an agenda that is in direct opposition to God. Many will fall in step with leaders, supposedly Bible teachers, who through their own deceitful interest teach lies. “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” Matthew 7:15.
The problem is, many people as they seek after some form of spirituality, remain ignorant of God’s word. Therefore it’s impossible for them to heed Jesus’ words to “beware of false prophets.” This in turn gives these cunningly false prophets a license to deceive the masses. These ravening wolves have an agenda, and it isn’t to teach from God’s word. A huge deception I see currently affecting many people’s spirituality is the onslaught of self help books. Many of these books can actually take on a Christian look and feel yet be quite contradictory to God’s word.
I’ve seen and heard of some extremely heretical practices occurring in Churches across this county. As Christians we are to be focused on Jesus Christ, we aren’t to take our eyes off Him. That’s what Jesus meant when He said, “... No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62. If we take our eyes off Jesus Christ we will turn away from Him and get caught up in things that will lead us astray.
Yet we see many pastors and others who once taught from the Bible turning to alternative sources for teaching and using these alternatives to lead people away from the word of God. Using these alternative sources they corrupt the lives of others, and there are some pastors who actually use these very heretical alternatives for preaching from the pulpit. Rick Warren’s now famous book, “The Purpose Driven Life” as well as Warren’s “The Purpose Driven Church” and the study materials that accompany these teachings are all distractions to move people away from the word of God.
In my home town of 4800 people and about 100 churches there’s at least one church that has gone bonkers over the “The Shack” written by William P. Young. They’ve gone as far as to erect a small structure in front of their regular assembly building depicting “The Shack”. They’re promoting a book of fiction that depicts God as a character that is completely contrary to the God of the Bible. When we begin to incorporate props such as this for teaching in our Christian Churches we begin to move away from God and closer to where Satan would have us. There are many other distractions being presented with a Christian look and feel but they are all deceptions. Tell me, if you can, what’s wrong with teaching exclusively from God’s inerrant word?
More and more we see these erroneous teachings invading our once revered sanctuaries and we know this is going to continue and become even more pervasive. Every single denomination and non-denomination is being attacked by some sort of false teaching and false doctrines and as such they will continue to move further and further away from a foundation built on Jesus Christ.
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first...” 2 Thessalonians 2:3a In Paul’s admonition to the Thessalonians he makes it clear that before Christ’s return there must first come a falling away, and scholars are divided on whether Paul is referring to the falling away by believers or a world wide rebellion to God. All we need to do is look at what’s happening in many of our Christian Churches today to see what Paul meant.
Unfortunately, one of my favorite Christian organizations which began back in the late 60’s and early 70’s and which God used mightily to create a huge movement, leading many to Jesus, is Calvary Chapel. It, too, is being attacked from every angle and now heading full steam towards the emergent/contemplative purpose driven agenda and kingdom now affiliation. Believe it or not there is only one purpose behind all these distractions and disruptions, and that is to eliminate the true Church and replace it with the apostate Church of the last days.
“Nearly every evangelical denomination and organization of any size in North America is going in this same direction as [the Calvary Chapel organization] to one degree or another.” Lighthouse Trails
Two separate paths and two different types of people. Different only by the choice they make. That choice will either lead them to an eternity with Jesus Christ in Heaven, or an eternity in a burning Lake of Fire. As different as the two people groups seem they are all equally known by God. God knows which path each person will ultimately take and He’s known it from before the creation of the world.
“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” 2 Peter 3:8. In this verse Peter is giving us a lesson in how God views eternity, and the fact that God is eternal. God is not restrained by time or space but He can see the beginning and the end of all things at the same exact moment. He already knows what decision you and I will make in regards to our eternal destiny. That’s how Jesus can say “broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at”. Matthew 7:13b. If you’re reading this commentary and you’ve not made that most important decision of your life to follow Jesus Christ, there’s still time, albeit precious little, so choose wisely.
It’s appropriate that Jesus refers to His followers as sheep. Sheep have the propensity to follow rather than lead and sadly many will follow doctrines which consist of what man has derived from his own mind, most of which are at odds with the scriptures. In these “last days” there will be great multitudes that follow erroneous teachings and they are completely unaware of the fact that they are being led down the most destructive of highways. This truth isn’t something we will need to be looking for as occurring in the distant future, oh, no my friends it’s happening right now. This world of ours is heavily into following extremely deceitful and blatant liars.
Jesus said “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:14. Jesus is that straight gate and narrow way referred to in the scripture verse above. There is no other Way in which one may enter Heaven. Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6.
First and foremost, we must believe Jesus is who He said He is or there is no hope for salvation and no foundation for our Christian faith “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” John 8:58. In the very next verse the Pharisees provide us with their understanding of Jesus’ words. “Then took they up stones to cast at him:” John 8:59a. You see, in the minds of the Jews who had just heard Jesus’ proclamation, He had blasphemed God by making Himself out to be God. Jesus had just committed the offence (in the eyes of the Pharisees) that would lead to His death. If you don’t understand what Jesus meant by saying “I Am”, He was referring to the voice that spoke to Moses from the burning bush in Exodus chapter 14. Jesus was that voice. Jesus is God and the Pharisees recognized Jesus was making that claim. They didn’t believe it of course, but they do now.
Again, two very distinct paths are available to the people of planet earth. All earth’s peoples have a choice to make. We are all God’s creation and we were all created in His image, more importantly God has no favorites when it comes to our salvation. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9. God would love for all men to seek Him and come to repentance before it’s too late. Unfortunately, according to God’s own words, that’s not going to happen. Many will follow the wrong path.
None of us are pushed on to that broad highway that leads to destruction, but many people will be led there. Jesus says many will follow it because they choose to follow it. Few will make the alternative choice. How disturbing is that revelation? We can choose to believe what Jesus says or we can ignore Him and continue down the wrong path, but we can’t have it both ways. If we never consciously make the choice to follow Jesus, then we have made our choice.
Following a liar just because he or she gives persuasive and articulate speeches using words that sound like something God might say will not suffice as an excuse as to why you were lead astray as you stand before the White Throne Judgment Seat of God. If you’re following a man or woman who claims to have the answers and know the correct path to God, yet they deny the deity of Jesus Christ, you’re going to be in for a huge surprise as you stand before the King of Kings weeping as you realize that during your life on earth you had continually followed the father of all lies instead of learning the truth. God’s truth is obvious and those who don’t accept it are without excuse.
Here’s the answer to this problem of being deceived or misled. Grab your Bible and open it to the book of Genesis and begin to read and study like you’ve never done before (and many haven’t). When you get to the last page of the Book of Revelation begin again. Since our eternal destiny is a life or death situation, continue this new study practice for the rest of your life. If you are familiar with God’s word it will be very difficult, probably even impossible, to be led astray by those who want to teach doctrines of men and those who have their own agendas apart from God.
This concept of getting people to read everything that comes along, all the while neglecting the one book they should have practically memorized by now, is satanic. This evil is inspired by Satan and it’s working quite well. I’ve read that there are currently about 3,000 new books being published every day. That statistic, if true, is extraordinary to say the least, yet there has never been another book so popular in its sales that it holds the record for books sold to date, or as neglected once purchased, I’m speaking of the Holy Bible, God’s inerrant word.
You say you want to hear from God? Read your Bibles. God will speak to you from every page. You may wish to ignore the admonition I’ve written on this page, which, of course will be to your own detriment. As we get close to the time of Jesus’ Second Advent, Satan is working exponentially to lead as many as possible down that destructive highway.
» Secular Hostility? Well not Exactly
There is a hostility growing which is aimed at Bible believing Christians. I’m speaking of those of us born again believers who actually take the word of God seriously and literally. We are being singled out and maligned by some of the most surprising sources. We would expect this hostility to come from our adversary, Satan, and all those who gleefully follow him. Satanic hostility is certainly occurring at an alarming rate of speed. But what Bible believing Christians should not be enduring in any form is the astonishingly clear hostility coming from folks who also profess to be Christian.
“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.” John 15:18-21.
Jesus Himself tells us to expect hostility (persecution) from the world and indeed we shall. But from those who actually profess to be our brothers and sisters in Christ? Doesn’t this fact alone prove that every person who professes to follow Jesus isn’t necessarily born again but may actually be following His nemesis? It seems there are some who say they are Christian yet do everything they can to persecute those of us who study and believe Bible prophecy. Why? “because they know not him that sent me”. John 15:21b.
Rick Warren wrote a book a few years back that I’m sure most readers of my commentaries have either read or are at least familiar with. It’s entitled “The Purpose Driven Life”. In it Warren proceeds to tell us that those who study Bible prophecy are not fit for the kingdom of God.
The Bible contains so much prophecy that one could say it’s basically a book of prophecy; and that fact is what distinguishes it from other religious books and from other religions for that matter. God, through His word, is giving us a history lesson in advance which is precisely how He authenticates His word. When we read and study our Bibles there is no possible way to avoid studying Bible prophecy, unless of course one were to completely allegorize the Bible, which would also be completely erroneous.
By quoting Jesus out of context, Warren says, "Anyone who lets himself be distracted [by studying Bible prophecy] from the work I plan for him is not fit for the kingdom of God" (Living Bible). But Jesus was not referring to His return when He made that statement, which in the King James Version says: "No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God" (Luke 9:62). The Purpose Driven kingdom of God leaves no room for Bible prophecy, and in fact, condemns those who study it. The apostle Peter, inspired by the Holy Spirit, had a different view. He writes: "We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts." (II Peter 1:19)
“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62. Anyone who studies their Bible regularly knows what Jesus meant by the above statement. We aren’t to take our eyes off Jesus once we are saved because we will invariably waver and slide off the path He’s set for us.
He isn’t saying that studying His prophetic word would disqualify us from our usefulness as witnesses for His Kingdom, or that we would be unfit for entering His Kingdom.
Those who agree with Warren and his statements above are just as flawed as those who follow Warren’s friend Brian McLaren. “We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us.
Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.” 1John 4:6.
There most certainly abounds a spirit of error in the Church today and those who’ve been given a spirit of discernment recognize it as such.
Another excerpt from Lighthouse Trails Publishing:
In an April 2009 article in Sojourner's magazine by emerging church leader, Brian McLaren, McLaren clearly has targeted Christians. But not just any Christians. McLaren is talking about Christians who believe Jesus Christ is coming back again, suggesting that these types of Christians are the reason there is no peace in the Middle East. He says what these end-time believing Christians are doing is "terrible,"
"deadly," and "distorted."
McLaren says that he grew up with a dispensational view (the belief that Jesus Christ will return and establish his kingdom on earth) but has come to realize this view is "morally and ethically harmful." He likens this belief system to racism in the 50s and 60s and says:
These doctrinal formulations often use a bogus end-of-the-world scenario to create a kind of death-wish for World War III, which--unless it is confronted more robustly by the rest of us--could too easily create a self-fulfilling prophecy.
“Beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming?” II Peter 3:1-4. Can there be any doubt of the above prophetic scriptures being fulfilled by the very statements made by these leading Christian men, Warren and McLaren?
McLaren makes it clear that those of us who believe Jesus is to return to establish His Kingdom on earth, like Jesus says He will, need to be confronted robustly by, in his words “the rest of us”. Just who are those who need to confront true Bible believing Christians? And what does he mean by robustly? McLaren’s statement “The rest of us” is speaking of those who profess a Christian faith but who don’t actually believe in the deity of Jesus Christ. Without a doubt they’re going to have a problem with those of us who believe Jesus Christ is God Almighty. According to McLaren, those who believe in Bible prophecy will be confronted, and he emphasizes this with the adverb “robustly”.
If we look up the synonyms for robustly we get the words strongly, vigorously, forcefully. So McLaren perceives Bible believing Christians as needing an adjustment to their thinking, at the minimum that adjustment must come forcefully to confront our bogus, terrible, distorted, and deadly beliefs. Somewhere in all of his ranting I’ve missed the part about loving God with all our heart, soul and mind, and of course loving our neighbor as our self is missing as well.
Imagine, if you will, our current government’s leaders with their behavior towards us (Bible believing Christians) already at a position of diminished favorability, and now believing that a growing number of those who profess to be Christian (but aren’t) feel we need to be forcefully confronted. What will be the outcome of a fully socialistic government’s attitude towards a large segment of its citizenry who refuse to toe that socialist government’s secular line? Christians who actually follow the Bible and live their lives according to God’s word are already referred to by our current administrations leaders as rightwing extremists/terrorists. Now, by and through the statements made by McLaren and Warren, these same officials have been given a green light as to how to deal with all this rightwing dissention.
My brethren, as we traverse this most destructive course established by the policies of our current leaders in government, the prophecy of the Church of Philadelphia in the third chapter of the book of Revelation is seen on the horizon. “I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.” Revelation 3:8.
Little strength, that’s the clue to the future position of the true believing Church, just before Jesus takes us home.
As truly born again believers who follow the word of God unabashedly, it’s my opinion that if you’re reading this commentary and you’re one of those under the government’s new designation as rightwing extremist/terrorists, you better have your prayer life well in hand.
Jesus is our comfort and our refuge, we know that. No one can take that fact away from us. Prayer is our direct line to God and we must be in constant prayer. Our relationship to God is of utmost importance in these very trying times.
Remember this, those who are perishing cannot say or do anything that will destroy a Christian who believes God’s word. We belong to Jesus Christ, God Almighty, there’s nothing for us to fear from His creation.
Yet I see fear has set in on many of my brethren. Be careful my brothers and sisters, doubt comes after fear. Circumstances surround us which at times seem impossible to overcome. Our power to “overcome” comes from God and there is no circumstance and no entity that will overcome God.
“There are many Christians today who seem to think the boat is going down! I am tired of the wailing of some of my friends who take that view. The boat cannot go down. Jesus is on board.” G. Campbell Morgan
“See that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” Matthew 24:6. When Jesus says “..all these things must come to pass…”, He is referring to events which we see happen right before our eyes. Many Christians are spiritually blind and refuse to acknowledge what obviously points to the signs of the last days before Christ’s return. A blind person could recognize the signs, but for many of those who have perfect vision the signs seem to be invisible. As Jesus states in Matthew 24:6 “The end is not yet”, but with what we currently see happening all around us the end could be very close.
Something very interesting and completely relatable to our current times is what Jesus told His disciples in John chapter 9, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work” John 9:4. The Greek word Oudeis translated into English can be rendered as no man, nothing, any man. In other words Jesus is telling us there is coming a time when we won’t be able to do the work God has given us to do. I believe we are getting extremely close to the time Jesus is speaking about, especially living in a country run by a secular socialistic government bent on eliminating Christianity from its midst.
The night is coming, darkness is falling all around us. Many of our own professing brethren seem bent on our demise. Will we stand firm on our belief in Bible prophecy? Will we stand up for the true Jesus of the Bible in the face of all adversity? Will we declare His message with boldness ‘til the end? Standing up for Jesus, in my estimation, might well become a painful experience. In totalitarian countries around the world, standing up for Jesus is already a life threatening occurrence. I know there are many who will say that standing up for Jesus will never become life threatening here in the land of the free and the home of the brave. We shall see.
“Therefore, brethren, stand fast...Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work” II Thessalonians 2:15, 17.
God bless you all,
» Seven Men Named Jesus
A recent poll claimed that about half of all professing Christians don’t believe that Jesus is God, or that the Holy Spirit and Satan even exist. Smaller but still significant percentages don’t believe that Jesus lived a sin free life or that He is the only way to salvation. This has prompted questions about whether this means they aren’t really saved. I remembered an article on this subject that I wrote a number of years ago and in response to these questions I have updated and expanded it. I believe it will explain what you have to believe about Jesus to be saved. Let’s read it.|
The Other Six
Ever suspect while talking with someone that you may have a mutual friend? Then as you get further into the conversation you realize that you are describing two different people who happen to have the same name? So it is with discussions of Jesus. The name’s the same but the descriptions vary widely. Over the years I’ve collected numerous descriptions of men named Jesus. Which one do you know?
First there’s the Jesus of Judaism. He’s known in Jewish writings as the illegitimate son of Miriam (Mary). He lived in the first century CE (they don’t use AD) and led people away from main stream Judaism into a cult. His followers were first called Netzerim (people of the branch) and later Christians. In his name Jews have been persecuted unmercifully over the centuries. Jews who admit to believing He was their Messiah are often considered dead to their families. Jews don’t believe in a second coming because they don’t believe there’s been a first one.
Then you have the Jesus of Islam. He was a prophet and teacher on a par with Mohammed. His role was to help prepare people for the great leader from Allah coming at the end of time to judge the world. He was born of a virgin but was not the son of God because the Quran says “God begets not, nor is he begotten.” He didn’t die for the sins of the people because in Islam salvation comes from good works. Neither was he resurrected. Instead, in a time of confusion God took him live into heaven and someone else was crucified. He will return at the end of the age to defeat the anti-Christ, call everyone to Islam, and prepare the world for judgment.
The Jesus of Mormonism is the spirit brother of Lucifer. Both are sons of a god who was once a man and one of his many wives. This Jesus became a human as the result of a sexual union between the Mormon god and an unmarried Jewish girl named Mary. He’s often called the Savior but never Lord, because although he’s one of god’s sons, he’s not god. If he determines that you’ve done everything you possibly can to earn your own salvation and are still short, he’ll graciously make up the difference. He’ll return at the End of the Age, having protected his saints through the time of Great Tribulation, to set up his kingdom.
The Jehovah’s Witnesses have a Jesus too. He’s a son of Jehovah, but He’s not God. Rather, he was a perfect man just like Adam originally was. Before he became a man he was the Archangel Michael, who The Witnesses believe to be Jehovah’s first created being. Just believing in Jesus is not enough to save us. we also have to become a Jehovah’s Witness, be baptized, and obey God’s laws all of our life to prove ourselves worthy. Their Jesus wasn’t physically resurrected, but came back to life in Spirit form. He returned to Earth in Spirit form in 1914 and will become a physical being again at Armageddon.
Then there’s the Jesus of the liberal denominations. He’s a first century man who lived an exemplary life of such gentleness and grace that it was almost as if he was God. He’ll see that everyone who joins their denominations gets accepted into heaven whether they’re born again or not. Some proponents of liberal theology claim that he’ll also see that everyone who was sincere in whatever other religion they practiced will get to heaven too. For the most part, liberal denominations don’t believe in the literal fulfillment of End Time events. For many, the 2nd Coming happened to each person when they first believed in Jesus.
The New Age Jesus is really one of the oldest. He originally appeared in first century Gnosticism. This Jesus was a man who like 40 other “ascended masters” holds the key to knowledge (gnosis) that when learned will bring about the next phase of human evolution, a spiritual growth that will finally make peace on earth possible. He didn’t die for our sins because there’s no need for us to be saved.
You’ll find variations on these six themes in nearly every major religion and cult around today. It seems every body wants you to think they know a man named Jesus, even if they have to redefine him to suit their beliefs.
The Real Jesus
But there is one more man named Jesus. He is not a created being. On the contrary He is our Creator. As Paul wrote in Colossians 1:16, By him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He’s not an angel and he’s not a mere man, because He created both. The archangel Michael might be the first created being, but if he is, Jesus is the one who created him. And Lucifer may have many brothers, but if he does, Jesus created them all.
This is the Jesus of the Bible. He claimed to be God in the form of man (John 10:30 and 14:9). Men who knew Him agreed. Paul taught the Deity of Jesus in Colossians 1:15-16. So did John (John 1:1-3). The writer of the Book of Hebrews also agreed (Hebr 1:3) and included a quote from Psalm 45:6-7 that shows God Himself addressing Jesus as God (Hebr 1:8). And this is not just a New Testament idea. In his prophecy of the Messiah’s birthplace, Micah said He was an eternal being whose goings forth were from days of eternity. Literally from before time and perpetual. (Micah 5:2) He is the eternal God.
Here’s where your knowledge of Scripture becomes really important, because in order to be all the Bible claims, Jesus has to be both 100% man and 100% God. If He isn’t a man He couldn’t have been made like us in every way and suffered our temptations as Hebr. 2:17-18 claim; he couldn’t be our High Priest as Hebr. 4:14-15 assert; and he can’t be our redeemer because he wouldn’t be our next of kin as required by Lev. 25:47-48 and explained in Rom 5:18-19. If He isn’t God He couldn’t be King David’s Lord (Matt 22:41-45) He couldn’t be sinless (Rom 3:20) and He couldn’t be our Savior (Mark 2:6-12 and 1 Ptr 1: 18-21).
Is This a Cult?
Three things distinguish Christian cult beliefs from orthodox theology. The cults deny the doctrine of salvation by grace alone. You have to earn at least part of the salvation they offer. They also deny the notion of eternal punishment for sin. Everyone goes to some kind of Heaven. And most importantly, they deny the deity of Jesus. They portray Him as a great man and role model; a great teacher, a prophet, even a social revolutionary, but certainly not God.
In truth Jesus was all of that. But He was also much more. He was God in the form of man; the Father dwelling in the Son (Col 1:19). To think of Jesus as anyone other than God is to reject the truth concerning Him revealed throughout His Word, and to put yourself at risk of trusting in the wrong Jesus for your eternal destiny. The Jesus of the Bible is the only one of the seven men named Jesus who is able to save you.

» Calling yourself a Christian doesn't make you a Christian!
Last Monday night, I spoke at the local chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. This is the group whose national leader is Barry Lynn, a true tool of satan who is a former ACLU operative that spends his life trying to stop those true men and women of God who share His Truth in the marketplace. He has gone after many high-profile Christian leaders over the years, including me, using the IRS to try and remove the tax exemption from Godly ministries he disagrees with.
I have debated Lynn many times, so it was strange that the local group would ask me to speak, but I readily agreed. I arrived at the church where they were meeting, and walked into the foyer to find rainbow flags promoting gay pride. A gentleman greeted me and his first words upon seeing me were, "Is that a Bible?" I knew this was going to be an interesting evening when upon walking into a church, my first interaction with someone was asking me if the book I was carrying was a Bible!
The fact was, the 30 people or so who attended were all middle age to older. I have no doubt they were all respectable members of the community. They seemed to be very decent, kind people. They were a great representation of the vast majority of the people who make up our communities. Despite a belief in God, calling themselves Christians, they all believed there was nothing wrong with the sin of homosexuality, that a woman should be able to do whatever she wants "with her body," and that the Bible is NOT God's Word, but a book written by men.
THE POINT I WANT YOU TO HEAR LOUD AND CLEAR TODAY IS THAT THIS GROUP IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE VAST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE IN THIS NATION THAT ARE IN THE PEWS OF CHURCHES EVERY SUNDAY!!! I AM NOT EVEN TALKING TODAY ABOUT THOSE OUTSIDE OF THE CHURCH, BUT INSIDE THE CHURCH!!!
In case you have been sleeping, there is a new group of people in our nation who call themselves the "religious left." This is a relatively new term so you may not be familiar with it. That is why I felt it was so critical to take the time today to ensure you not only understood what it means, but who actually makes up this new group of people. Forty years ago, this group didn't even exist. They have actually evolved and grown tremendously over the past decade.
The "religious left" is made up of people who identify themselves as Christians and hold strong religious beliefs as well as sharing left-wing ideals. Obviously, this group has risen up in opposition to those who have been tagged the "religious right" or the "Christian right." The "Christian right" is that group of Bible-believing Christians who are politically active and seek to elect to office those candidates who hold to Biblical values on the key spiritual issues of our day that are also political issues.
These would be issues like abortion and life-related matters, gay marriage, family issues, the proliferation of the pornography industry, and the drive to remove God from the public square. Those in the "religious left" actually take an anti-Biblical position on these issues and are also heavily involved in the ecumenical movement, environmental issues, opposing war for any reason, world hunger, and social issues like healthcare, welfare, and education.
There is nothing wrong with pursing these noble social issues.Believers should be more involved on those fronts. The problem with this group is their anti-Biblical position on the key spiritual issues of our day and their involvement in these ecumenical movements that require you to set aside the Absolute Truths of the Bible.
I refuse to try and judge their heart, that is something only God can and will do. However, I have every right to judge them on their actions in accordance with God's Word. How can you say you are a person of faith, yet vote to support the legalized slaughter of over 4,000 innocent babies every day? How can you say you are a person of faith, yet vote to redefine God's Holy Institution of Marriage? How can you say you are a person of faith, yet support special rights for people who have chosen to engage in perverted sex acts God calls an abomination, including their ability to adopt children into their deviant lifestyle?
I guess the real question becomes, what is their faith really in? It is inconsistent to say you are person of faith yet continually take a stand in complete opposition to God's Word. Jesus said that if you love Me, you will obey Me. That means His Word. Of course, those in the "religious left" has been born out of the liberal "churches" of our day who make a mockery of Christ as they operate in open rebellion to the Truth of the Bible while claiming to be followers of Christ.
They support the legalized slaughter of babies, redefining marriage to include men with men and women with women, perverting the family by bringing children into homes with homosexual parents, and embrace ecumenical fellowships with all of the cults and false religions of the world. They deny the inspiration and inerrancy of the Bible, have rejected God's Word for the Absolute Truth it represents, and have bought into the lie of the world that there are "many roads that lead to God." These are the people who make up the "religious left!"
It is beyond me how a person can consider themselves a Christian, which means they are a follower of Christ and automatically a follower of His Word, yet take a public position in complete opposition to that Word. You better wake up, since this is the largest growing segment of Christendom, this apostate group who calls themselves Christians but go to churches who operate in complete rebellion to Christ and the Bible.
This is the group that is Biblically illiterate since they don't even believe the Bible to be true. They are the politically-correct crowd who has bought the lie a woman has the right to kill her baby. They are the group who lambasts those who speak out against the sin of homosexuality, calling them names like "intolerant" and "hateful." They call themselves Christians, but support the things Christ and the Bible condemn. Pray for these people since you can't call yourself a follower of Christ, yet stand on the opposite side of Christ on so many issues. Truth is not what we want it to be, it is what God says it is. We don't have the luxury of giving our heart and life to Christ and then live any way we want. A true follower of Christ is a follower of His Word. Jesus said, "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?"

» A Deception of Cosmic Proportions
|(disclaimer- I have never thought much of Chuck Missler - I just thought that this article was interesting in his explanations and considering all of the continued interest in Scientology-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientology )**************************
UFOs are real, they're just not from outer space. So says Chuck Missler in his book, Alien Encounters: The Secret Behind the UFO Phenomenon. Missler is convinced that the alleged aliens publicized these days are demonic forces, and equates them convincingly with the angels that co-habited with women in Genesis 6.
Stay with me for these few paragraphs and see if your curiosity isn't piqued just a bit. Granted, there are many details we don't know about the pre-flood days, but in my opinion, Missler's hypothesis fills in a lot of gaps (Matt. 24:37).
Think about it. The Bible says, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handiwork" (Psalm 19:1). But talk of UFOs and aliens from outer space doesn't glorify God. To the contrary; you'd be very surprised at what they DO glorify.
For instance, these alleged extraterrestrials are big proponents of a new world order. According to Missler, "Throughout the history of alleged extraterrestrial contact there is one theme that dominates ETs' messages to mankind. In order to survive, we must unify our resources into a global society, with a world governing body and global religion." Sound familiar?
He then cites Brad Steiger, author of the book, The Fellowship: "Contactees have been told that the Space Beings hope to guide Earth to a period of great unification . . . The Space Beings also seek to bring about a single, solidified government, which will conduct itself on spiritual principles . . ."
Missler's conviction that these beings are demons is further strengthened by the fact that these alleged aliens are "coincidentally" concerned with the exact same philosophies espoused by the New Age movement! He says a vast majority of abductees "have shown an interest in paranormal activities, Eastern religions, and New Age world-view. A large percentage of abductees have also reported a history of involvement with Ouija boards, astrology, witchcraft, astral projection, telepathic communication, channeling, past life regressions, and the like."
In fact, apparently "one of the more common sources of information from extraterrestrials comes through channelers. Channeling [a practice prolific among followers of the New Age movement] is a process whereby an individual (the channel) allows him or herself to be entered or spoken through by a spiritual entity [read: demon]."
Missler also cites Jacques Vallee, world-renowned UFO researcher, who says, "The structure of abduction stories [is] identical to that of occult initiation rituals." These issues may seem far out, but they are germane to the subject of the end-times, which an increasing number of Christians believe we're living in right now!
And speaking of the end-times, I just have to share this with you. Apparently these ETs have a plan to "evacuate the millions of people who are 'out of vibration' with Earth Mother!" I kid you not! According to Missler, ET officionados explain that, "extraterrestrials will 'beam up' or levitate these individuals into hundreds of cloaked alien ships that are currently surrounding the Earth. When the global situation reaches a crisis point on Earth, they will evacuate these people in a 'twinkling of an eye.'" Apparently Satan feels an intense need to explain where millions of us have gone after the fact.
Admittedly, this is a subject that generates a lot of discussion! Some may say this is strange Star Wars or Twilight Zone talk, but it is actually thought-provoking apologetics to contemplate. But our central focus right now must continue to be to warn our loved ones of the danger looming over our world and to reach those who are lost with the good news of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ - while we still have time!
The Bible says there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven in the last days (Luke 21:11). I find it intriguing that the escalation of UFO activity began in 1948. Even back then the demonic world sensed that the rebirth of Israel was a sign that the time was short.
Take heart, friend! A good and perfect world government is coming -- the reign of Jesus Christ on this earth. If you know Jesus Christ personally you - as I - will be reigning with Him (Rev. 20:6)! At that time Satan and his minions will be bound for a thousand years, summarily squashed in one last attempt to overthrow the King of kings, and then banished to the lake of fire for eternity.
Look up (Luke 21:28). Our redemption is coming!!

» The Prophecy Conudrum
In every generation of Christians since the time of the Apostles, there have been devout souls who have pored over the Scriptures, comparing the signs to the times and looking for evidence suggesting the imminent return of Christ.
In most previous generations, they were either revered as sages or dismissed as harmless nut-cases. But in this generation, something is different. Students and teachers of Bible prophecy find themselves in great demand or shunned like lepers.
Depending on how one receives the message, we are perceived as either hateful or hopeless, but we are certainly not harmless. In this generation, the first mental image most people have when they hear "Bible prophecy" is of a burning compound outside Waco.
It doesn't matter that David Koresh was certifiably nuts or that he claimed to be Jesus Christ. To most people in this generation, "Bible prophecy" and "apocalyptic cult" are synonyms.
I typed in Bible prophecy apocalypse as Google keywords and the most popular returns all referenced 2012 in some way.
Very few actually had much to do with Bible prophecy, all of them had something to do with doomsday, and none of them offered much in the way of either understanding or hope.
Since the 1960's 'evangelical' and 'apocalyptic' and 'conservative' have all sort of run together into an image that then-candidate Obama summed up (rather well, really) in his "bitter redneck" comment.
"And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
When you get right down to it, there isn't much about Bible prophecy that this generation should be eager to embrace. I feel for one of our younger members who lamented in one of our forums that we older folks at least knew what it felt like to have a future worth planning for.
I feel it for my own children. I came to Christ in my early 20's. God called me almost immediately to be a watchman -- my kids grew up never expecting to grow up.
My son Rick will be thirty-one in August. I can still hear him in my memory, his squeaky voice just beginning to crack, asking me if I thought the Lord would tarry long enough for him to learn to drive.
I've been expecting the Rapture to take place at any second now for almost my entire Christian life. Every new event seems to signal that 'this is IT!" but then it isn't. I get my hopes up, and then I realize that my reach has exceeded my grasp.
I am not alone -- I am one of an entire generation of similarly disappointed Christians who keep listening for a trumpet that never sounds. This collective disappointment is reflected by a number of recent surveys that suggest Christianity in general, and evangelicalism in particular, are on the wane in the United States.
Michael Spencer, writing in the Christian Science Monitor, paints a rather grim picture of where he sees American evangelical Christianity headed, not just in the United States, but the Western world.
Within two generations, evangelicalism will be a house deserted of half its occupants. (Between 25 and 35 percent of Americans today are Evangelicals.) In the "Protestant" 20th century, Evangelicals flourished. But they will soon be living in a very secular and religiously antagonistic 21st century.
This collapse will herald the arrival of an anti-Christian chapter of the post-Christian West. Intolerance of Christianity will rise to levels many of us have not believed possible in our lifetimes, and public policy will become hostile toward evangelical Christianity, seeing it as the opponent of the common good.
Millions of Evangelicals will quit. Thousands of ministries will end. Christian media will be reduced, if not eliminated. Many Christian schools will go into rapid decline. I'm convinced the grace and mission of God will reach to the ends of the earth. But the end of evangelicalism as we know it is close.
This is perfect example of the "prophecy conundrum" -- that's pretty much the way the Bible predicted it, too.
"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition."
"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. " (2nd Timothy 4:3-4
"And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." (Matthew 24:12)
"Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation." (2nd Peter 3:3-4)
Prophecy is knowledge of future events -- and that has considerable weight. If you don't believe knowledge has weight, think back to some time when you were in deep trouble when you were a kid and you were waiting for a punishment you KNEW was coming.
You already knew what you did. That was past. But punishment, although certain, was still future. Weighed heavily on your mind, didn't it? (Multiple puns intended to make the point)
Knowledge has weight. And some knowledge is heavier than other knowledge.
The end of the world is a fairly heavy subject.
The knowledge imparted to students of Bible prophecy in this generation is almost crushingly heavy -- I believe that is the reason that the Lord promises a special crown to those who willingly shoulder its burden.
"Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing." (2nd Timothy 4:8)
Watching God work has another unexpected consequence. It tends cause us to see ourselves in the reflected light of His glory --and it isn't a pretty sight. Sometimes when that happens, it also manifests itself in one of our forums.
There was an entry by a brother just the other day lamenting his spiritual condition before the Lord. He begins by confessing he is 'haunted' by the fact he isn't sure he is saved.
Let me address that brother first, before returning to the wider issue at hand, since we all struggle with that issue at one time or another.
If you can follow me around this mental circle. . . If I DIDN'T wonder if I was saved from time to time, THAT would be a reason to worry. I KNOW how far short of the glory of God I come. I know me in my innermost, darkest places.
If I was God . . . well, let's just say that it is a good thing for ME that I'm not.
So if I started to think that I was good enough to be saved, and that's why I wasn't wondering, then maybe I wouldn't be.
Stay with me, here. This is one of those circular thoughts that, once you get it, slings you out the other side where the light is better.
If you are wondering how can it be that you are saved, as unworthy and unfit as you are to be saved, then by those very doubts you qualify as one of God's redeemed.
"Amazing love! How can it be, That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?" When John Wesley penned the words to that hymn, he was haunted by his sin, too.
When God works all around you, when you watch Him change the course of nations, set up and tear down rulers according to His Word, when you actually witness Him manipulating events to conform to His prophetic outline, it tends to remind you of who you ought to be before Him.
There is another lesson taught by prophecy that is often overlooked -- not who you ought to be, but who you actually are before the Lord.
He knew, down to the tiniest detail, what you would be thinking and doing as you committed the worst and most unforgivable thing you ever did in your entire life -- and He saved you anyway.
You are the one that He loved so much that He paid the penalty for all yours sins on Calvary so you and He could be friends for eternity.
You are the one He loved so much that He told you, in advance, what to look for in the last days, so you wouldn't be scared.
"Let not your heart be troubled. Ye believe in God. Believe also in Me."
There is a crown of righteousness laid up for you and me at the Bema Seat as a special reward for carrying the weight of what we know and being willing to share it while there is still time.
I believe that Michael Spencer is right. The end of evangelicalism is close -- it's no more than a trumpet note away. We can see it. We can feel it. The weight of this sin-sick world is too heavy for us to bear for much longer.
Which is why, praise the Lord, we won't have to. He's coming.</span>

» Why is Jesus Waiting
Every day we're deluged by waves of bad news.
As a Christian watching and waiting for the Lord Jesus to fulfill His promise of returning to Earth to set up His kingdom of peace, love and righteousness, I keep an eye on world events to discern the biblical signs that foretell of that blessed Second Coming. And so, day after day after day I peruse an endless list of news stories in search of those signs. They are very easy to find, but in the search I also discover that the world is filled with horror. That horror can stamp out any glimmer of hope.
Like standing stalwart against the crashing surf, all these constant updates on how bad the world is can eventually erode a person down. Each morning's wakeup has become tinged with a subtle dread of knowing that I'll have to hear about some injustice, atrocity or murder. My corporate prayer times are filled with reports of moral collapse and further acts that persecute believers in Christ and take the life of the innocent. My personal prayer times seem to more and more address the consequences of man's inhumanity to man. And worse, I gaze at my children and feel a deep sadness that they will not experience the earthly opportunities and freedoms that the American dream had once provided.
On top of all the terrible news of today, as a student of Bible prophecy I'm also laden with the knowledge of the future horrors of tomorrow. The human institutions of justice created to uphold moral law that so many have bled to establish have been corrupted and will disintegrate into a totalitarian regime ruled by a megalomaniac world leader. Within a few short years, three quarters of the world's population are going to be annihilated by nuclear war, raging famine, deadly pestilence and mass death. Freedom of religion will be stamped out. Those who call Christ "Savior" will be hunted like deer and exterminated. The world will visibly be in the grip of the cruel and merciless Prince of this Age — Satan.
And how do I cope with all this badness in the world and the knowledge to come? Initially, my lunch breaks have shifted from Channel 8 news to pre-recordings of American Idol, and from late night surfing of the news sites to Netflix. The wars I can control are played out in Command & Conquer games. But, these escapisms are only fleeting respites.
Why Jesus is Waiting
Honest coping — coping that heals the soul — finally arrives when one truly understands why Jesus is waiting to return, allowing the evil in the world to rage on in the meantime. The key to that understanding lies in 2 Peter 3:9 which reads, "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
The verse teaches that Jesus waits because not everyone who will accept Him as Savior during the present Church Age has yet done so.
I could get mad, and probably in moments of weakness have, that I'm saved and am all set to go. Bring it on!
But, what if Jesus had come back the day before I had accepted Him as Savior? What if Jesus was to return before your spouse, your child, your parents or best friend have accepted Him, leaving them to experience the wrath He has promised to let loose in judgment upon the whole world? Those questions put my anxiousness for His return into true perspective.
That Jesus hasn't returned yet is amazingly a mercy. The world is in a sorry state of affairs because mankind's free will and Satan's moment of ruling have made it so. But, to have the opportunity to be rescued from our sin and be granted eternal life by the true King of the Universe, the King who one day WILL fulfill His promises of destroying all evil and establishing His perfect kingdom... well, that life-saving chance is far too important when compared to our present limited time of suffering.
Jesus loves us, and I love Him for being so merciful. He is patient in returning because He wants everyone to have the opportunity to come to repentance and choose Jesus as Savior. Fortified with that knowledge, I think my day just got a whole lot brighter!
» Judge Not.......
I receive numerous emails from folks condemning me for my strong stance against Obama’s agendas. Most of these emails I just ignore. The words that are contained in these emails, along with the all capital “shouting”, tells me that they are already so infuriated with me that if we were in the same room I’m certain they would try to do me harm. And all but one so far have been from professing Christians. What a wonderful world we live in. Over and over again I’m given the scripture verse that says “Judge not, that ye be not judged.” Matthew 7:1. Excuse me, but Jesus also gives the following admonition: “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” John 7:24. That one they conveniently omit.
The Greek word for judge is “krino” and it means “to call into question”. This is what Jesus means when He says “judge with righteous judgment”. We are to call into question the unbiblical actions of individuals and discern for ourselves whether or not to follow such a person or persons. This is something that is sorely lacking in the Christian community and mindset today. Everyone is afraid of being accused of judging others. When that verse is used it is always in relationship to someone condemning someone else. Christians aren’t to condemn but we are to judge/call into question the actions of others and use biblical discernment to do so.
If we look at the world through the lens of the Bible we can navigate much more responsibly our lives here on earth. Using God’s word as our guide through life isn’t something I take lightly.
Here’s the truth of the matter, if you are an Obama supporter you are also a supporter of abortion. If you are an Obama supporter you are a full-fledged supporter of the homosexual movement in this country. Sending me emails claiming I am judgmental and a bigot isn’t going to change the fact that you agree with Obama and you support his agendas. Whether or not you agree with my stance is inconsequential, it’s God’s stance on the issues that concerns me and that is where I take my stand using biblical discernment.
God’s Stance on Abortion
“I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.” Psalm 22:10.
“Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” Psalm 127:3.
“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.” Psalm 139:13.
“Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb...” Isaiah 44:2.
“Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.” Isaiah 49:1.
“Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.” Isaiah 49:15.
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee...” Jeremiah 1:5.
“Thou shalt not kill” Exodus 20:13. The word “Kill” here means a pre-meditated act such as abortion.
We Americans have now placed into the Oval Office a man who is giving us everything he said he would. His first action as president was to re-enable abortion on demand; he’s now attempting to repeal all laws across this nation both, State and Federal, which put any restrictions on the abortion fanatics and their evil agendas, and completely destroying the laws that were so fearlessly fought for over the past eight years. Obama is now going full steam ahead with his plan.
God’s Stance on Homosexuality
“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion. Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: Leviticus 18:22-24
“Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: ... For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: ... And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” Romans 1:24, 26, 27. Too many professing Christians consider these verses to be obsolete, although we are told by the writer of the book of Hebrews that “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8. In other words, Jesus never changes and He never changes His mind about how these scripture verses are to be interpreted even by our current generation. So for those of you who believe these verses to be obsolete, you better think again.
Obama seems bound and determined to aggressively promote homosexuals and their lifestyle and he’s doing so to the fullest extent of his abilities and from the most privileged office in the land. Because of Obama, the homosexual agenda has been advanced to new heights, the likes of which were unheard of in the previous administrations.
My stance on both abortion and homosexuality are biblical. I don’t stand on my feelings but on God’s words. When I discuss Obama with my readership I always quote Scripture verses to show the authority by which I write these commentaries. God’s word is the final authority. If you disagree with the scripture verses in the Bible you need to take that up with God, He put them there not I. When those readers lash out at me they are only proving they are against God. These new friends of mine never seem to be able to supply scripture verses that would place me at odds with the word of God.
God’s Stance on the Wicked
“The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but He loveth him that followeth after righteousness.” Proverbs 15:9. God hates wickedness and He considers homosexuality wickedness.
“He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.” Proverbs 17:15. For those who try and condone this wickedness God has a message for you, you are an abomination to Him.
“An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.” Proverbs 29:27. Those of you who condemn me because of my stance against these abominations are proving the Bible’s accuracy.
Some have called me a bigot because Obama has dark skin and they say that’s why I stand against him. Actually I don’t really care what a person’s skin tone is; it’s their heart and attitude towards God’s word that I’m concerned with. Do they take His word seriously and literally, or do they consider God’s word to be full of obsolete verses and myths. I will always stand up for my Savior and Lord and it doesn’t matter to me if people want to condemn my biblical stance, that stance won’t change. God’s truth is the only measuring line for our lives and nothing else comes close, therefore nothing else matters.
Many in this country voted for Obama because they didn’t like the alternative. Biblically speaking, though, voting for Obama was the same as slapping God in the face. God gave us an alternative to an abortion activist and a homosexuality promoter, but America refused His alternative and voted into office God’s nemesis. Those of you who email me and call me names such as homophobic and bigot and then misquote scripture are only lashing out at what you don’t understand about God’s word. You are actually angry at God because His word is concise and without error and you don’t like that. Especially you don’t want anyone quoting scripture verses that clearly stand against your views. Many would rather live in darkness than come out into the light. “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them,” 2 Corinthians 4:3, 4.
Global government, global economy, and global ecumenicalism are all catch phrases being tossed around these days. We know it wasn’t Obama who started this steam roller effect of the downfall of the American economy, but it seems to be his intent to cause that steam roller to be converted into light speed. Warren Buffet made a statement the other day that the American economy is in freefall mode. Wow, that from one of the savviest traders on Wall Street; a statement like that coming from a man who probably stands to lose more of his personal wealth than any other human being on this planet. That statement comes after the biggest bank “bail out” debacles ever to hit this continent. Buffet believes there is no let up in sight for the freefall of this economy. Hmm
As we head into the next four years of an Obama presidency we will see and feel the temperature rising under our seats. The stage is being set for the grand unveiling of the New World Order. Our Bibles speak of this phenomenon happening in the very last days before Christ’s return.
I feel a kind of peace as I watch the current worldwide events unfolding and know that they are completely biblical and that they were indeed foretold by the prophets thousands of years ago. We’ve read about the end times by now and the events that are to happen and we’ve been taught many different scenarios on how those events would unfold, but to actually witness the physical unveiling of the word of God before our eyes has a peaceful yet eerie feeling, like something huge is about to happen.
For those who think I’m picking on our new president unjustifiably, get out your Bibles and blow off all those layers of dust, then study the scriptures I’ve placed in this commentary for yourselves. Become Bereans, look up Acts 17:11 and place that verse at the forefront of your studies. I’ve heard many professing Christians claiming they are sure God placed Obama in that office, and because they believe he is ordained by God he must have been placed there to bring America out of these terrible times we seem to be stuck in. In a culture and society bent on the total rejection of Christ, and where God is outlawed from every aspect of our government, why would God ordain a man whose main goal as president is the godless agendas I’ve mentioned? Perhaps God is trying to get our attention before His hammer falls?
At any rate I’m not the person following Satan’s agenda for the world. I’m not the one sitting in that Oval Office promoting the vilest of atrocities ever hurled against the unborn. By signing into law an executive order repealing all restrictions on stem cell research, and by opening up the financing of abortions worldwide Obama is certainly following Satan’s agenda for mankind.
Honestly, apart from his homosexual agenda which he is pushing forward with the full force of the US government behind him, the man seems obsessed with the destruction of the unborn and all for the advancement of embryonic stem cell research? Research that for years has been known to be nothing more than a complete failure; to those researchers it’s all about the money honey. Friends, there’s something more sinister behind all this than meets the eye.
Did God allow Obama to become president of this once great nation? Yes. How do I know that? Because Obama now sits in the highest office this nation has to offer. Did God allow Obama to occupy that office for the good of this nation? Let me reiterate, here we sit doing all we can as a nation to give God the boot and you still need to ask that question?
On the statue of Liberty, the words etched into that grand lady’s base are these, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me: “I lift my lamp beside the golden door”.
I see an addendum to those words coming very soon “But our golden doors are shut to your Christian God, America only worships at the altar of Baal.”
God help us,
» Deluded? Who Are YOU Calling Deluded? ''We're All Socialists Now!''
President Obama has a high-priced team of Los Angeles lawyers whom he pays out of his own pocket. Evidently, their only task is to prevent Americans from learning anything about him.|
The firm of Strumwasser and Woocher are fighting against the production of Obama's college records from Occidental College in California. Presumably, those records may shed light on how Obama managed to travel to Pakistan in 1980 without a US passport.
Or whether or not Barry Soetero was registered as a US citizen or foreign national. Or how he ended up making the jump from a community college to Columbia and Harvard.
This high-priced legal team is also fighting to prevent the production of his actual birth certificate, passport records, hospital records or any other documentary evidence useful in determining his actual citizenship.
The firm has answered no fewer than a dozen lawsuits including several that made it all the way to the Supreme Court and has been successful in blocking or having all of them dismissed so far.
To this point, Obama's popularity has been such that no court has been willing to even entertain the possibility that Obama's presidency may be unconstitutional. One wonders if that might change -- should the trillion dollar stimulus fall on its face?
The entire scenario is bizarre to the point of being other-worldly; I think that is what creates that nightmarish sense of standing frozen in place like a jack-lighted deer in front of a runaway train.
First, why would any public official pay out millions in legal fees to conceal his background from the public, let alone the President of the United States? Can anyone out there suggest any possible innocent explanation? Anybody?
Secondly, why would President Obama want to carry this kind of baggage with him into the White House when he could clear it up so easily?
Thirdly, why didn't the DNC National Committee clear this up during the campaign -- and certainly before the nomination? Why would the DNC take such a risk if it's leadership wasn't sure?
And if the DNC leadership IS sure, then why play along with the charade? All they need do is trot out the evidence that convinced them they weren't risking seeing their political world implode mid-term.
Fourth, why won't any court in America hear the lawsuits? It isn't as if the suits are demanding something that EVERY American isn't required to produce? The suits ask only for evidence of citizenship -- the various ancillary demands for college, hospital and passport records are only because Obama has suppressed his birth certificate.
Finally, the general public is not only disinterested in Obama's eligibility, they are actively opposed to its investigation. That doesn't make any sense. Indeed, it is one of the most bizarre aspects of this whole picture. But only one. The stimulus bill is another.
It is more money than anybody ever imagined. Do you remember all the debate about universal health care, how much it would cost, and whether or not America could ever afford it?
This so-called 'stimulus bill' is so massive that universal health care got tucked away inside it -- and nobody even noticed it was there -- like hiding an elephant inside a continent.
It's no wonder many Americans are reeling - three weeks into office, the dependably liberal Newsweek ran a headline entitled, "We're All Socialists, Now!"
I found it interesting that the Newsweek piece advanced two concurrent arguments. First, argued liberal authors Jon Meachem and Evan Thomas;
"Whether we want to admit it or not—and many, especially Congressman Pence and Hannity, do not—the America of 2009 is moving toward a modern European state."
Secondly, it's George Bush's fault: "It was "under a conservative GOP administration that we enacted the largest expansion of the welfare state in 30 years: prescription drugs for the elderly."
Newsweek continues, "the architect of this new era of big government? History has a sense of humor, for the man who laid the foundations for the world Obama now rules is George W. Bush, who moved to bail out the financial sector last autumn with $700 billion."
Newsweek is reliably liberal. It's the print version of MSNBC, which is the TBN of network Obama worship. If Newsweek is invoking George Bush, then it means that Newsweek's liberals are as nervous about Obama's lack of policy direction as the rest of us are.
"Now comes the reckoning. The answer may indeed be more government. In the short run, since neither consumers nor business is likely to do it, the government will have to stimulate the economy. And in the long run, an aging population and global warming and higher energy costs will demand more government taxing and spending. The catch is that more government intrusion in the economy will almost surely limit growth (as it has in Europe, where a big welfare state has caused chronic high unemployment). "
To summarize, socialism is a necessary thing, but we might not be able to tell how much we like it, until after we get used to the idea of high unemployment. But if Obama fails, it isn't because socialism has either failed or is failing everywhere it has ever been tried. Of course not. If it fails, it's because of George Bush.
In his Second Letter to the Thessalonians, the Apostle Paul paints a word picture of the world as it will be in the time leading up to the revelation of the antichrist.
Paul was addressing a heresy then-circulating among the Thessalonians. The Thessalonians thought that Nero was the antichrist and that the Rapture had taken place and they had been left behind to go through the Tribulation.
"Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto Him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand." 2nd Thessalonians 2:1-2)
Paul is addressing the Rapture of the Church "our gathering together unto Him" as an event which precedes "the Day of Christ" -- which is the 2nd Coming. If the Rapture had occurred, as the Thessalonians supposed, then they believed the Day of Christ was "at hand".
From the context of Paul's remarks they were clearly terrified at the prospect of enduring the reign of antichrist and the Tribulation.
"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition." (v.3)
Paul wants to make sure there is no misunderstanding as to the identity of this man of sin. He is the antichrist who will stand against Jesus at Armageddon.
"Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." (v.4)
Paul then asks the Thessalonians rhetorically, "Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?" (v.5)
What 'things' was Paul metaphorically cuffing them in the back of the head for forgetting? The order of 'things' to come.
First, Paul says, the antichrist can't be here yet because "ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time." (v.6)
Until that restriction is lifted, Paul admonishes, the antichrist cannot come to power. Paul says the 'mystery' of the antichrist -- that weird human desire for a substitute messiah -- is already at work, only there's some One that prevents that desire from taking over humankind completely.
"For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only He who now letteth will let, until He be taken out of the way. "
The 'He" referred to in this verse is the indwelling Holy Spirit of God that Paul says also indwells the Church at Thessonika. So if they are still there, then He [the Holy Spirit] is still indwelling them.
I don't know how else to read that verse without destroying its context. He will 'let' (indwell, as in the sense of 'room to let') until He is 'taken out of the way'
"And THEN shall that Wicked be revealed. . . ." [Again, to remove all doubt that we're talking about the antichrist here] "whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming."
But before any of this is accomplished, Paul reveals to the Thessalonians, presumably to disabuse them of the notion that the antichrist could be Nero or some other ordinary man, the road he takes to power.
'Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders. . . ." Paul says that this leader will be acclaimed by a population characterized "with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved." (v.10)
This is a population that prefers a lie to the truth -- if it makes them feel better about themselves.
"And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie."
This isn't THE Lie. Not yet. If we're still discussing it, then the Holy Spirit is still indwelling us.
First, comes the delusional state necessary for the world to believe it. Then comes the disappearance of uncounted millions, throwing the world into an even greater sense of panic. Then comes The Lie.
But when it comes to the world's susceptibility to delusion, then any old lie will do to prove the point. Like the stimulus bill will fix the economy. Or that Obama has a good reason for concealing his birth certificate.
Or that we're all socialists, now.

» The One World Religion - How it Coming Together
The most popular apostasy in Christendom today is the teaching that God has revealed Himself in many different ways to different cultures and that, therefore, all religions worship the same god, but just use different names. From this viewpoint, the Allah of Islam is the same as the Yahweh of Judaism and both are the same as the Krishna of Hinduism. The natural conclusion that is drawn from this apostate idea is that there are many different paths to God, Jesus being only one of them. This has led liberal leaders of groups like The National Council of Churches in the United States and the World Council to condemn missionary activity as "arrogant" and "anti-cultural."1
The Bible teaches that these apostate Christian leaders are eventually going to succeed, at least temporarily. Their triumph will occur when the Antichrist forms his one world religion (Revelation 13:12).
The Stanford Conference
Major steps have already been taken to establish a unified world religion. In June of 1997 over 200 delegates from religious groups all over the world gathered at Stanford University to begin drafting a charter for an international interfaith institution to be called The Organization of United Religions.2
The meeting was convened and presided over by Reverend William Swing, the Episcopal Bishop of San Francisco. Since 1993 he has been traveling worldwide to set up a network of religious leaders interested in a one world religious organization. The Bishop told the San Francisco Chronicle: "I've spent a lot of time praying with Brahmins, meditating with Hindus, and chanting with Buddhists. I feel I've been enormously enriched inwardly by exposure to these folks. I've gone back and read our own scriptures, and it's amazing how they begin to read differently when you're exposed to more truth from more people in other parts of the world."3
This statement is the epitome of the new tolerance that is being evidenced by Christendom's apostate leaders. (Incidentally, I wonder what "new truth" he found outside the Bible!)
The group has been moving full speed ahead with their organizational efforts. Their charter was presented for ratification by sponsoring groups in June of 2000. Their goal is to have the new organization fully operable by 2005. They intend for the headquarters to be located at the Presidio, the former military base in San Francisco. As one conference leader put it, "The UR is meant to be for religions what the UN is for nations."4
Continuing Apostasy in Melbourne
In July 1997 many of the same people gathered in Melbourne, Australia for a conference on religion and cultural diversity. The Archbishop of Canterbury (the leader of the Church of England) was present, and the Pope sent one of his highest ranking cardinals, Francis Arinze.5
At the opening banquet, the lights were dimmed and people were told to focus on the candle on their table while the following prayer was offered: "Let us focus on the candle, the small quivering fire, the light in the darkness, the call to evening prayer, the call to thanksgiving... for our togetherness, for our unity as sons and daughters of the earth in this vast and ancient land, this sacred soil of the Dreamtime. In the presence of the Ineffable Other, the Holy Being of Infinity, the Numinous Beyond, the One and the Ultimate, the Alpha and the Omega, the Unknown and the Unknowable, Lord of the Cosmos, Center of Creation... we pray to you..."6
Can you imagine any Christian leader praying such claptrap? Since when, from a Christian viewpoint, has our Creator God become "unknown and unknowable"? Only a professing Christian captivated and deceived by the new tolerance could pray such a blasphemous prayer.
Understandably, the conference concluded that the one cardinal sin is absolutism. Belief that one's religion contains absolute truth was decried as pride.7
The conference's most popular workshop was on "Religious Fundamentalism." The featured speaker was an ordained Christian minister who, until recently, was the full-time chaplain at the University of Melbourne. He denounced Christians who believe in the Bible and embrace creationism as "mean-spirited." He also called them "authoritarian and dictatorial," "violent," "aggressive," "pathological," and "dangerous." He characterized them as people who are incapable of independent thinking and who "brandish their floppy Bibles like weapons."8
Talk about paving the way for the Antichrist! I can hear him speaking now: "It makes no difference what you call your god. He can be Yahweh or Baal or Allah or Krishna or Mother Earth or Self. Just give me your allegiance as your god's Messiah, and I will guarantee your freedom to worship as you please."8
The New Charter
The URI Charter was ratified on June 26, 2000 at a meeting held at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The preamble states: "The URI is a growing global community dedicated to promoting enduring, daily interfaith cooperation, ending religiously motivated violence and creating cultures of peace, justice and healing for the Earth and all living beings."9
It sounds so good! It is all so touchy-feely and warm and fuzzy. The Charter is full of New Age type statements like the following: "We unite to celebrate the joy of blessings and the light of wisdom in both movement and stillness."10
One of the key principles expressed in the Charter is worded as follows: "Members of the URI shall not be coerced to participate in any ritual or be proselytized." In other words, no member of the URI will engage in missionary activity since that would constitute an act of spiritual imperialism. It all makes sense from their viewpoint, since they believe all religions are equally valid.
The amazing thing is the degree of inclusiveness that the URI represents. In addition to the world's major faiths, the organization has embraced "neo-pagan" religions like Druids and Celtic Revivalists, Wicca and Witchcraft, and Norse Paganism.
All of this is being done in the name of "tolerance." But it is a perverted tolerance. It is a subtle ploy of Satan to corrupt the Church from within. The deception sounds so appealing: "Why draw lines of fellowship over doctrinal differences? The only thing that's important is sincerity. Reach out and embrace all those who profess to believe in God, regardless of who their god may be. Ignore doctrinal differences. Do it in the name of Christian love. Do it for the sake of religious unity."
This type of thinking has led Earl Paulk of Atlanta to call for the Evangelical Christian world to embrace even the Mormons! It has motivated mainline liberal spokesmen to advocate that Christians show tolerance toward Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and other pagan faiths by restraining ourselves from sharing the Gospel with them. Consider, for example, the following words of Episcopal Bishop John Spong of New Jersey:11
In the fall of 1988, I worshiped God in a Buddhist temple. As the smell of incense filled the air, I knelt before three images of Buddha, feeling that the smoke could carry my prayers heavenward. It was for me a holy moment for I was certain that I was kneeling on holy ground...
I will not make any further attempt to convert the Buddhist, the Jew, the Hindu or the Moslem. I am content to learn from them and to walk with them side by side toward the God who lives, I believe, beyond the images that bind and blind us.
Again, it all sounds so wonderful, so soothing, so tolerant! Tragically, it makes a liar of the very person they profess as Lord, for Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me" (John 14:6). Those are not tolerant words.
The Coming World Religion
The Christian leaders who are advocating tolerance to the point of embracing apostasy are going to triumph in the near future, at least temporarily. The Bible makes that clear. Just as "one world" thought is dominating the political and economic scenes today, it has captivated the thinking of both Catholic and Protestant leaders regarding religion.
In that regard, I think it is significant that in 1989 the Archbishop of the Anglican Church, Robert Runcie, called for all Christians to accept the Pope as "a common leader presiding in love." Runcie made his appeal at an evening prayer service midway through his first official visit to the Vatican. "For the universal church, I renew the plea," he said. "Could not all Christians come to reconsider the kind of primacy the bishop of Rome exercised with the early church, 'a presiding in love' for the sake of the unity of the churches in the diversity of their mission?"12
That kind of thinking is paving the way for the establishment of the one world government of the Antichrist (Revelation 13:1-10) which will be supported by the one world religious system of the False Prophet (Revelation 13:11-18).
I believe the harlot church of Revelation 17 will most likely be an amalgamation of the world's pagan religions, including apostate Protestants, under the leadership of the Catholic Church.

Dancing With God
When I meditated on the word Guidance,
I kept seeing 'dance' at the end of the word.
I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.
When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.
The movement doesn't flow with the music,
and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.
When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,
both bodies begin to flow with the music.
One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back
or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another.
It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.
The dance takes surrender, willingness,
and attentiveness from one person
and gentle guidance and skill from the other.
My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.
When I saw 'G': I thought of God, followed by 'u' and 'i'.
'God, 'u' and 'i' dance.'
God, you, and I dance.
As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust
that I would get guidance about my life.
Once again, I became willing to let God lead.
My prayer for you today is that God's blessings
and mercies are upon you on this day and everyday.
May you abide in God, as God abides in you.
Dance together with God, trusting God to lead
and to guide you through each season of your life.
So let's continue to pray for one another.
And I Hope You Dance!
» End-of-the-Age Atrocity
Babies are slaughtered! This horrific evil is proof we are at the end of the age. The Apostle Paul’s “perilous times” prophesied characteristics –“fierce” and “without natural affection” (1 Timothy 3)—are front and center every day. Proof is the most recent such atrocity about a baby being thrown in a garbage can immediately after birth because the abortionist did not quite make it in time to do the deed.
The funny thing is, the baby-killing doctor had his medical license revoked by the state of Florida for "malpractice." Even more ironic are those in the pro-death movement who are denouncing the death of this baby as a horrible tragedy. Give me a break! The pro-death movement, led by our new President Barack Hussein Obama, supports 4,000 horrible tragedies in this nation every 24 hours!!!!
Back in 2006, a teenager who was 23 weeks pregnant went to a Miami-area abortion clinic. She was given drugs to dilate her cervix, and waited hours for the abortion doctor to arrive. During that time, she actually gave birth to her baby. With the doctor still not around, a clinic worker cut the umbilical cord, put the baby (a living human being) in a bag, and threw it in the garbage. I challenge you the next time you take out your garbage to remember that in this nation we put no more value on a human life than we do on a sack of trash!!!
I am grateful this story has come to the light of day. It shows clearly what happens in these abortion mills. Babies are murdered in these places. What happened that day in Miami is no different than want happens 4,000 times a day across this nation. This pathetic excuse for a doctor should not have had his license to practice medicine revoked, he should be in prison for murder, along with every other "doctor" who kills babies.
The reality is, in the United States, the life of a dog is worth more than the life of a human being. In the United States in the year 2009, it is illegal to kill a dog, but legal to kill a baby. Let me say that one more time, since I want this fact to really sink in: In the United States in the year 2009, it is illegal to kill a dog, but legal to kill a baby. Wow! Does that fact show just how spiritually bankrupt we are as a nation? Want more? The ex- quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons, Michael Vick, went to prison for killing dogs, yet every single day all over this nation, "doctors" are slaughtering 4,000 babies and going home to their families at the end of the day.
Why Abortion IS a Big Deal
I am getting sick and tired of people telling me to stop talking about abortion. I am getting even more sick and tired of
people like Rick Warren and others on the "religious left" who say talking about abortion is too divisive and that we need to stick to issues most people agree on, like poverty and AIDS in Africa. I fully understand why people don't want to talk about abortion. Infanticide is not a pleasant subject. But we can't just be silent and act like it doesn't exist, especially when every 24 hours another 4,000 innocent babies are being slaughtered in this nation.
I would love to stop talking about abortion. Let's get the U.S. government out of the baby-killing business and let each state decide whether it wants to kill babies in its state. This will not end abortion, but it will at least prevent men and women from treating it like nothing more than a trip to the dentist to have a cavity filled. It will also cause the adoption industry to be reformed so adopting a child doesn't require five lawyers, six years, and enough money to buy a small home. It will also cause the church to start taking responsibility for putting together programs to help deal with babies who need to be cared for and placed in homes with loving mothers and fathers.
However, until we get to that place, I refuse to be silent; it is a subject that must be discussed. Every time some sort of natural disaster causes people to die, the news media jumps all over the story. Any death is sad, but I always wonder why so much is made of 5, 10, or 50 people tragically losing their lives while nobody even thinks about the fact that every 24 hours we murder approximately 4,000 innocent babies in this nation. I am virtually certain that only a handful of people out of the several million who will read these words today will even stop for a second to reflect that in the last day, we killed 4,000 babies in this country. We have become so desensitized, we have come to accept abortion to the point that we don't even think about it any longer.
Here is why abortion IS a big deal: Did you ever wonder if there is a correlation between the fact we started to legally kill babies in this nation in 1973, about the same time we began to see a massive spiritual decline in America? Coincidence? I think not. Just like in our individual lives, our nation's blessings are tied to our obedience to God. Legally killing babies is a big deal, because how can we ever expect God to bless a land that is flooded with the blood of innocent babies?
I know that it is not politically correct to talk about abortion any longer. Sadly, very few nationally known pastors ever talk about this issue. It is bad for their business. Those who now make up this growing group known as the religious left who fill their churches with the seeker/purpose-driven/emerging church/watered-down message don't like this issue since it
hurts their marketing efforts for warm bodies. Except for a handful of brave Catholic bishops and priests, we hear virtually nobody in the marketplace taking a stand against this blatant act of murder.
I have been saying for years that this one issue alone is enough to bring down God's wrath and judgment on this nation. Sadly, President Bush squandered our last real opportunity we may ever have to deal with this issue politically. President Obama is a staunch defender of the practice of infanticide. He is a hero to those in the pro-death movement. The business of killing babies around the world will flourish under Obama.
Those who defend him state that it is the law, and that he is only upholding the law. The fact is, he has voted 100 percent of the time during his political career to uphold the legalized killing of babies. If he truly believed in life, he could have voted to make abortion illegal and work towards that end. I contend that any politician who votes to uphold abortion has the blood of
innocent babies on his or her hands, and is truly an evil person.
As a side note: For those in the pro-death movement who want to make believe this is about women's health rights, that is a bunch of garbage. This is about the live of human beings. I agree a woman has the right to do whatever she wants with her body, but not with the body of someone else. That baby may be inside her, but it is still a separate human life created by
I refuse to be bullied into silence on what is by far the most critical spiritual issue there is. You simply can't close your eyes and act like this brutal act of murder doesn't exist. I see the Hollywood crowd and people who normally spit in the face of God
get so upset about the atrocities in Darfur and other places on the globe. Why aren't these same people as upset with the fact that every 24 hours we slaughter 4,000 innocent babies? Where is their outrage about that?
On the Liveprayer.com homepage, we have a special 55-second video clip of an actual abortion being performed. If you have not watched it, you must. This is what happens to over 4,000 innocent babies every day in this nation. Since God led me to get this footage and put it on the website nearly two years ago, we have received more than 3,000 emails from women who were contemplating having an abortion, but who watched the video and changed their minds. (Watch the incredible testimony of baby Delilah on that same link.)
Despite the several death threats and scathing emails I get every month for having that video on my website, I want the world to see what really happens to millions of babies here in the United States and around the world every year. Abortion is a big deal since it not only kills 1.5 million babies in this nation alone. And it is already bringing down the wrath and judgment of God on this nation for practicing infanticide, unless you are as spiritually blind as our leaders in Washington who think they can fix the problem. The only way to fix the problem is to stop killing babies and turn back to God and His truth!

Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good. (Ecclesiastes 9:18)
There is a tremendous influence exerted by the life of one individual. And the influence is more potent when it is in the wrong direction. History bears this out. Adam sinned and his sin has affected the entire race of mankind. Achan sinned, and because of him an entire nation went down in defeat. Rehoboam’s sin split the kingdom of Israel. The sin of Ananias and Sapphira brought the first defect into the early church, and from that day on the church has not been as potent as it was in the beginning.
You and I have an influence, either for good or for bad. No matter who you are, you occupy a place of influence. “For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself” (Romans 14:7). My friend, all of us are preachers. You are preaching to those around you by the life that you live.
I personally believe that the do-gooder, the man who boasts of his moral life apart from God is the greatest detriment. He actually stands in the way; he blocks the way to God because his message is, “Live like I do. I live without God. I just do good.” There is nothing quite as deadening as that.
You are a preacher, whoever you are. It may be in a very small circle, but you are affecting someone. You are a preacher in your own home. This reminds me of a father who kept a jug of whiskey hidden in the corn crib. It was his habit to go out there every morning and get himself a drink. On a snowy morning he went out to the barn as was his habit, but this time he heard someone behind him. He turned around and found that it was his little son following him, stepping in the footsteps in the snow where his father had walked. The father asked, “What are you doing, son?” The boy answered, “I’m following in your footsteps.” He sent the boy back into the house, and then he went out to the corn crib and smashed that jug of whiskey. He realized that he didn’t want his boy to be following in his footsteps. Someone in your home is following in your footsteps. Where are you leading him?
You may be influencing a wide circle of human society. You may have influence in your neighborhood and in your community. You have influence in your Sunday school. Somebody is looking at you and watching to see whether or not you mean business with God. Does your going to church mean anything more to you than going to a drive-in to pick up a hamburger? Does your life suggest that there is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun? You have influence.
You remember that Peter preached a mighty sermon on the Day of Pentecost. Andrew just sat on the sidelines and could say, “That is my brother. I brought him to Christ.” That was Andrew’s influence. You, today, are pointing men to heaven or to hell. Now, if you want to go to hell, that’s your business, but you have no right to lead a little boy there. You have no right to lead your family and those who surround you there. Even if you want to go, it’s awful to lead others. Influence – “One sinner destroyeth much good.” Think about it.
» The " New Normal"
Since the turn of the century, the coming together of ancient prophecies of Scripture for the last days has increased exponentially, and so precisely, that even the secular world has begun to sit up and take notice.
Hal Lindsey's "Late, Great Planet Earth" made the New York Times best-seller list in 1970. When it was still on the best-seller list in 1976, 20th Century Fox decided it was time to give Bible prophecy the Hollywood treatment. In 1976, 20th Century Fox released "The Omen", a movie about a little boy named Damien who was born with a "666" birthmark and destined to become the antichrist.
The film capitalized on the sudden interest in Bible prophecy by mixing Scripture with stuff they made up to sound like Scripture, and Fox expected it to do well, but never expected it to be such a blockbuster that it ended up becoming a trilogy.
Hollywood lost interest in Bible prophecy until the mid-1990's when, sensing a re-emerging market for "end of days" themes, they released a whole flurry of movies, (including my personal favorite, "End of Days", in which Arnold Schwartzeneggar saves the world by defeating the antichrist in a fist fight).
As dates are reckoned, 2001 is the FIRST year of the 21st century, with the year 2000 being the last year of the 20th century.
It is worth noting that the dawn of the 21st century was more than just a way of marking the passage of another hundred-year unit of time. It marked the dawn of a literal "New Normal" as a consequence of September 11, 2001.
The world changed in first year of the 21st century -- and nothing has been normal since -- hence the phrase, the "New Normal."
In the "New Normal", anti-Americanism is the new patriotism. Political leaders like Dick Durban can compare US forces -- on the battlefield, in combat, in wartime -- to 'Nazis', and be defended by his Senate colleagues as 'a patriot'.
In the "New Normal" a Democratic member of the US Congress can make the statement that "good news from the Iraq battlefield is bad news for us," without fear of censure.
In the "New Normal" Hillary Clinton can be the front runner for President of the United States as the 'family values' candidate -- and Al Gore can win the Nobel Peace Prize for demanding the US submit to a UN global government.
In the "New Normal" -- the hedonistic Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco can advertise its annual Gay Pride party by mocking the Last Supper and enjoy the endorsement of the US Speaker of the House -- and the sponsorship of Miller Brewing Company, while the mainstream media pixelated the Danish Mohammed cartoons to avoid offending Muslims.
The Miller-sponsored ad featured a twisted version of Da Vinci's "Last Supper", substituting Jesus and the Apostles with men and women in various stages of leather dress/undress, (including a man wearing a black dog mask).
Sex toys, including a big red fist, are strewn across the table. Prominently on display in the left-hand corner of the ad — the Miller Lite sponsorship logo.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi commented dryly of the Folsom ad, that, "she didn't see anything in the ad that threatened the continued existence of Christianity." (Nancy wasn't shy about expressing her 'concern' at Danish 'insensitivity' over the Danish cartoons -- but that's acceptable in the "New Normal")
At the same time, niche filmmakers Peter and Paul Lalonde produced a series of films based on Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins book series that not only broke even at the box office, but has sold millions of copies on DVD.
Both Hal's LGPE and subsequently, Peter and Paul's films made a successful crossover into the secular market where they've been instrumental in leading untold millions to Christ.
Mel Gibson's independent production, "Passion of the Christ" (which I still haven't summoned up the courage to watch) broke box-office records.
There is a growing sense in the secular world that the world is mysteriously out of synch and rapidly running out of time. (Al Gore just won the Nobel Peace Prize for telling us that we're all doomed unless the US submits to a global government, for example.)
Then, too, there are the undeniable similarities between the events predicted by the Bible's prophets and the global scenario predicated by the imposition of the "New Normal" of the 21st century.
Twenty-five hundred years before it became a reality, the Hebrew prophets confidently predicted the existence of a Jewish state called "Israel" in the last days. They predicted that Jerusalem would occupy the center of global attention.
Even a hundred years ago, such a prediction seemed preposterous. Ancient Israel had been part of the Muslim Ottoman Empire for four hundred years. Few could point out Jerusalem on a map, fewer still even knew that it was a real city and not another lost city of the Bible.
The 20th century closed with the collapse of the Oslo Peace process, when Yasser Arafat broke off negotiations when Israel offered to give in to the majority of his territorial demands and grant the Palestinians unconditional statehood and started the still-raging Oslo War against Israel.
In the surreal environment of the "New Normal" the collapse was blamed on Israel, just as the prophet Zechariah predicted. When Israel surrendered Gaza, the Arabs used it to attack Israeli settlements -- so in response, the world put pressure on ISRAEL.
Although Israel's most basic red-line position since 1967 has been no negotiation over either Jerusalem or the Temple Mount, the prophet Zechariah predicted that Jerusalem would be divided one last time:
"Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city." (Zechariah 14:2-3)
Jerusalem has not left the headlines since Ehud Olmert announced Israel's willingness to divide Jerusalem with the Palestinians as a shared capital and grant Jordan sovereignty over the Temple Mount in exchange for peace.
The prophet Ezekiel predicted, 2500 years ago, that at that point in history when Israel was again numbered among the pantheon of nations, that a nation called "Gog" would reluctantly ally itself with an alliance of nations -- that comprise the modern Islamic world -- led by Persia, that would launch an invasion against Israel.
A straight line north from Jerusalem goes right through the center of Moscow. And in 1925, the ancient nation of "Persia" formally changed its name to "Iran."
(At present, the world is holding its collective breath waiting to see what Moscow's reaction will be to the virtually-certain impending Israeli attack on the Russian-made nuclear facilities inside Iran.)
Indeed, since the dawn of the "New Normal" and the seemingly accelerated pace of unfolding Bible prophecy since, some Christians believe the anti-christ is already in power and that the Tribulation has already begun. Others are busy calculating the day when it will begin.
Every year of the 21st century has seen some new prediction of the Rapture during Rosh Hashana or Yom Kippur, and every October of the 21st century has seen a flurry of emails explaining where their calculations were out and explaining why it will be NEXT year at Rosh Hashana or Yom Kippur.
In the "New Normal" its perfectly acceptable for Christians to defy Jesus' admonition against date-setting, and nobody seems to hold it against them when they are consistently wrong.
Jesus explained in a parable WHY God imposed a prohibition on date-setting, and why nobody can calculate the day or the hour of the Rapture:
"And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through." (Luke 21:39)
It is perfectly logical. If the Rapture's date could be calculated, nobody would clean up their act until the last minute. The lost would circle the day on their calendar, confident they had plenty of time to repent, or as the Prince song put it; "they're gonna party like it's 1999."
That's human nature -- but salvation comes by putting on the nature of Christ. By faith. Not because of a looming deadline.
In reading through the daily news, I admit that I sometimes marvel that I am still here to report it. And I wonder, (as you do, no doubt), "How long, Lord?" -- but in so doing, I miss the point.
When the Rapture happens, the door of opportunity for salvation for those who heard the Gospel but put it off until 'later' slams shut forever.
The Scriptures say that "the Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2nd Peter 3:9)
The Lord is holding the door open deliberately, to give us once last chance to fulfill our Great Commission and to give the lost one last chance to embrace the Gospel.
The Rapture could happen tomorrow, or the Lord could put all these events on hold for another decade. It isn't so much delaying His coming for the Church, as it is about giving us all every chance possible, according to His promise.
The Lord IS coming. All of the evidence says so, and, viewed from the perspective of the "New Normal," if He doesn't return soon, there may not be surviving Christians left to Rapture.
But we can be sure that He will delay His return for the last possible moment. We don't know when that moment is, but we know this, from our Lord Himself:
"Therefore, be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh." (Matthew 24:44)

Three cheers for the loyal opposition. There was, however, none. The Senate chamber sat nearly empty at one of the most important hearings in the nation's history. In fact, at one point, Republican senators occupied one of 12 chairs at the Senate confirmation hearing of soon-to-be Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. By the end of the hearing only six senators were present.
This is the very image of defeatism and irresponsibility. And that is the reason that America is drowning beneath the wave of socialism and facing an era where freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to pursue life and happiness will be swallowed up by the leviathan of federal government — history’s new handmaiden to the one-world order.
Moreover, representation exemplified by these purveyors of compromise and common ground for the common good is no representation at all. Americans are angry and disgusted with their Congress, giving it the lowest approval ratings of nearly 200 years, yet it is the American public that continues to vote for these amoral scoundrels whose primary purpose in life is to perpetrate their existence by making gullible people think they are doing their job.
In reality, they are a disgrace to the Republic, a menace to the well-being of society, a treasonous bunch that (in times when men were men and patriots) would have been tarred, feathered and run out of town.
Christians, as represented by some of the most powerful ministries and pro-family organizations ever seen in the history of this nation, must take to the streets and demand their rights as citizens and as patriots.
Christian ministries that hide behind faxes and enjoy hob-knobbing with politicians who make them feel powerful by merely listening to them, need to become more concerned about the issues that are destroying our nation rather than how much money they can extract beyond the tithe from even more gullible people than the electorate.
We either must determine that our country is lost and deal with it like Christians do in the Third World, or that our nation is worth the fight and take the appropriate action.
Ephesians 6:13 says, "Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."
Further, verses 19-20 record Paul's prayer, “that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly as I ought to speak.”
If Christians do not act, our taxes will fund more abortion; we will not be able to quote Scripture against immoral behavior such as homosexuality, Islamic interests that have bought our politicians will be running our foreign policy, and America's Christian heritage, the light among the nations, will go underground.
Choose this day whom you will serve.</a>
